Have you ever been riding on a train, or in a car, looking out the window, watching the scenery, seeing snippets and pieces of things, allof it beautiful, all of it enticing and awe-inspiring, all looking similar, but distinct? And then you round a corner, and you see a clearing, and you see that those scenes were all of one amazing vista? But that you still know that there's something you haven't seen? Something hidden, in the background, or underneath that you may Never see?

I just had that experience, regarding greygirlbeast's entire body of work, while reading "In The Water Works (Birmingham, 1888)," from Tales of Pain and Wonder.

You need to be reading this woman's work. All of it.

Preparations for a strange situation

Starting this coming weekend, I'm going to be spending two weeks in my dad's condo, with my cousin (on my mom's side), helping her get to and from the summer math and science program in which she'll be involved, at Spelman. I'll still be in th area, but I'll be sleeping somewhere else.

I'm also going to have to be waking up very early, in the morning, to get her there by 8 am. I'm thinking that, in order to fight traffic, I'll probably have to be up by 6.30, and leave by 7, at the absolute latest. This... Will Hurt.

I have no idea how I'm actually going to do this.

Anyway. Preparation.

I've loaded onto my flash drive the following: Derren Brown's Pure Effect, A.O. Spare's Anathema of Zos, Books of Pleasure, and Earth-Inferno.

I will be taking with me greygirlbeast's Tales of Pain and Wonder, Lehrich's Occult Mind in Theory and Practice, and the Tesla biography I've still not finished.

I have no idea what the internet connection is like, in the condo, but I'll be back and forth between there and here, during the weeks.

So, books to read. I'm sure I'll take some DVDs or something, to watch... Actually, I don't even know if there's a DVD player, there.

I need to head over there, today, anyway, and take a tally of what's there, and what I need.

I need more coffee, for one thing. For Real.

In other news, almost every internet connectivity thing I use is having some kind of issue, today. Gmail, Twitter, Livejournal... all doing something strange. And before that, my internet was just plain Down.

Yeah.

• Send out applications to remaining schools, after requesting letters of recommendation/permission for references


• Go downtown to print out new CV


• While Downtown, search listings for teaching jobs.


• Find a copy of the Jobs for Philosophers newsletter
