Have you ever been riding on a train, or in a car, looking out the window, watching the scenery, seeing snippets and pieces of things, allof it beautiful, all of it enticing and awe-inspiring, all looking similar, but distinct? And then you round a corner, and you see a clearing, and you see that those scenes were all of one amazing vista? But that you still know that there's something you haven't seen? Something hidden, in the background, or underneath that you may Never see?

I just had that experience, regarding [livejournal.com profile] greygirlbeast's entire body of work, while reading "In The Water Works (Birmingham, 1888)," from Tales of Pain and Wonder.

You need to be reading this woman's work. All of it.

I read a short story of hers, "Onion," that just blew me away...so much so that I still remember it four or five years later.

She's in the slow process of writing a screen play of that story. You should check her lj, and tell everyone you know to do the same ^_^
