Beck - [Nitemare Hippy Girl]--- [livejournal.com profile] mech_angel brought this disturbing display of distrust to my attention, and I feel that I must speak on it, if briefly.

Addict - [Monster Side]--- You are, if you are, trying to operate and exist within a world of myriad forces and spheres of influence and the post-modernist bent is only going to get you everywhere, and the erst of the ground needs to be covered by your past, and your modernity. Do you understand?

You are trying to attain some fabled unity, some Cosmic Devine, or whathaveyou. You will most likely want to take a look at the fact that we live in a fractal, spiral existence, each piece of itself containing a map of the whole of itself. That's what it is to look at context. But you have look at context, you know? You might want to think that you have to say to yourself "How do these things intersect and interlock, and what do we mean by the spaces between?"

Tom Waits - [Singapore]-- I've found that, without encompassing the whole, the parts, the nothingness, and everything, and the motion it takes to get there, you're probably not going to get what you're looking for. Be that in the universe, as a "whole," or in the projects of your daily life. If those things are any different, at all.

I know that, for some of you, they're not.

You *do* have to remember that these are the people for whom 'religion' is a very bad word, and that they are running terrified and/or distancing themselves from anything outside their own headmeats. Which is why I don't disagree with that Professor for the entirety of what he says. Everyone gets a *part* of what needs to be said, which is why a very small bit of me agrees with the whole 'many paths to the same goal' bit. But it forgets that everyone has something to learn from everyone else.

[Also, if this makes no sense, I'm very drunk. It may not look it, but this took way longer than it should have to be typed, and it may not make sense as a whole. Oddly, I watch the keyboard *less* when drunk.]

Apparently, the "review" is actually a joke.

Even so, it started a ball rolling, in my head, and it doesn't make the attitude I've seen elsewhere any less real.

Most people Do tend to forget that everyone has something to learn from everyone else, but then, I think, Infinity would not be Infinity. Having in it all possibility and all potential permutations means having the people who are jerkfaces, too. But it also means that what I do has a place in it all, because I did it, though that doesn't mean I should do Anything, because of the consequences and reverberations.

Now i'm not sure if I made sense. I'm still kind of sleepy...
