Do yourself a favour: Go out and buy Alan Moore and Eddie Campbell's A Disease of Language. Adaptaions of Moore's plays "The Birth Caul" and "Snakes and Ladders," with an interview, in the back, done by Campbell, in which Moore talks about the Writing Process, and Magic.

Excerpt: "Magic isn't some unfathomable and archaic new territory so much as it's something which you've been dealing with all your life in various forms, but have simply never chosen to see in those terms."

Curve - [Want More Need Less]--- It's been a grey and rainy day, and the only saving graces have been the portions of this interview that I've read. It's helping me to congeal some ideas, and some patterns, in my head, things that need to be given some room to space themselves out, and grow, properly.

{EDIT8.25pm: Arcana - [Seductive Flame]--- Also, one of my classmates asked to see my Runesheet, in class today, when I had it out, on the table. Also? Been drawing Technological reworkings of This, a lot, lately.}

[livejournal.com profile] mech_angel hooked up the new printer/scanner/copier, today. It's freaking awesome.

I'm going to go do other things, now.

Ta.

So it's just a reprint of those two works and the interview? Cause I've got the originals and *cough* The Birth Caul is signed by both gentlemen *cough*.

Yep, but it's got the interview, which, honestly, is the most important part, for me.

Where'd you get that?

From Chris Staros of Top Shelf Comics at Dragoncon a few years back. I am a crazy Eddie Campbell fan (so if this has new cover art, that would make it more than worth the price for me) and he's helped me feed that over the years.

Apparently when they were getting the book signed, they shipped a bunch of them to Australia. Eddie signed them. They then shipped them to England and the truck (or the shipment) got stolen or lost on the way to Alan. So they then had to make a second shipment to Australia and then England.

Wow.

If I were to get them signed, however, I think i'd want to meet the men, if at all possible. I'm that way about signings. It's not the name, but the meeting, for me.

Mrr. I'm very glad you insisted I read that, and even more glad that I didn't get lazy and not want to carry it. It's gorgeous, though I haven't made it to the bit you insisted I read it for; I loved the comics you were unsure I'd like. Silly. :P

I figured it would be right up your alley, and I didn't want to put too many expectations on it, for you, because it is kind of... Almost self-serving/pretentious stuff, if seen a certain way.

I didn't want to put too much weight into it, and swing you the other way, so i hedged my bets.

Dear, that's how I write anymore, when I do, though nowhere near as well. You calling me pretentious? Them's fightin' words, round here... ;)

Maybe I'm just more used to yours, because it doesn't seem to be trying as hard as he seemed to be, in places...
