Einstürzende Neubauten - [12305 (Te Nacht)]--- With a few exceptions, you probably don't know me. At least not as well as you used to.

Ask me anything. Seriously. Anything you want to know. I reserve the right to tell you the absolute truth.

Notice that i always tell you to ask and tell me? Why don't you ever do the same?

Out.

I have nothing to ask you. I enjoy your friendship, and highly value your advice. I love reading your LJ because you include books and links that none of my other friends would point me towards. I try not to be 'asking' of you, as it would seem there are hundreds of people doing so. That may subconciously be why I don't reply to these. But you do also love comments with conversational potential. So maybe there's something here. There is nothing I wish to ask you that I haven't asked you just now in conversation. You are always welcome to ask me anything, or ask anything of me. I think I did post an "ask me anything" meme awhile back. I don't think you asked me anything.

I guess we're even.

That you ask me questions, when they come to you, makes the difference.

Ask and offer. Offer and ask.

Why don't you ever do the same?

I used to, but I rarely got questions (but would sometimes get wind of derisive comments made behind my back), so I stopped doing it even though the ones who made the comments could use the enlightenment. Assumptions are easier, I guess, but I'll take this as a hint you'll actually ask, and want to.

Let's see... Well, it's simple, but it's what came to mind - where did you first encounter Studio Tavicat stuff? I first found it in June 1997, right after I graduated high school. Third issue of "Super Information Hijinks: Reality Check!".

Please do ask me something, whatever it may be. You may get told that I don't feel comfortable sharing, but even though I don't know you that well you seem to me to be one of those rare people who will listen, try to understand, and ask further questions if you are not sure, so I don't think I'd refuse on much. Maybe only answer via e-mail, but probably not refuse.

Studio Tavicat came to my attention in 1999, right when Jhonen and Rikki were working on "I Feel Sick," and after that, I saw stuff about "Rancklechick" (http://www.tavicat.com/ranklechick.html) and I was hooked, from there.

Funny aside: I got to meet them, once, at my local comic shop. They signed and drew on a book of "Reality Check," for me. :)

Hmm...What do you hope to accomplish with your art and writing?

Whoo, this's going to be a long one. I think I'll make a post about it, and comment back here when I have. Might take til tomorrow, I didn't get enough sleep last night and it's REALLY showing in my ability to make a coherent sentence right now.

Why and what did you do, in the military?

What do you do now, and what do you like best about it?

not a damn thing. I was in ARMY ROTC at NGCSU (the premiere Military School - piss on the Citadel and VMI they couldn't lead their way outta a tunnel). Turned down every promotion offered to me and mostly was a squared away PFC. Until I realised that it was all candy land crap and Retention took priority over Quality in a cadet. Then I became the biggest upperclassman-private-shitbag I could be. I was still squared away but I took advantage of any and all failings in the chain of command that I percieved. I took great pride in getting one bigotted, soon-to-be spouse abuser busted in ranks and landing a big ol ink blot on his Commission papers.
It got to the point where I had half my paperwork for enlisting completed, just so that I could get outta that environment but not have wasted all those years. I would have joined too had I not come across the "Plan for Invasion of Iraq" in the latter part of 2000. With a little research and a couple ears begged it became stupidly apparent that we were going to invade iraq even moreso when 9/11 came about. all in all, i'm not willing to kill one murderous bastard to keep another one in power.

Fast forward a couple years, got fed up with the Corps when they wouldn't let me transfer out and be a civilian commuter and finally just quit the school entirely. At some point, preferably miles past any chance of them tryin to force me back into their preschool crap, I'll most likely go back.

at the moment I work very, very hard at not doing anything. Job wise I do the same thing I do for fun, "security". I manage for money and I work it at cons for prestiege and enhanced enjoyment potential. Other than that, mostly I just trade attention for connections.

any other questions? this is fun =)

Yeah, that's the kind of reason I don't like to deal with public sector military/intel stuff.

If I think of anything, I'll ask, either in person, or via AIM.

because...

i say what i want to say if and when i can be bothered to communicate. i listen/read what other people wish to say. if people are that interested in me they may ask, though i might not answer, having already divulged all i am willing to. i do not invite quesyioning just as i do not quesion.

Are you happy in all the quest your persue, and do they usually turn out the way you want them to?

Happy is too... It's not the right word.

I do what I do, because the person I have become, now would hate the person I would be, were I to stop doing them.

When I plan, properly, they end with someone learning something about themselves, and growing, so yes.

If you could change only one thing about the world around you (neither necessarily a huge thing nor an inconsequential thing), what would you change, and why?

Better information retention and processing, for the human brain. Our current format is too lossy.

After that, anything is possible.

when i ask, you respond with vagaries. I think you do this because you know that if you did it in person i would pop you upside yo heid. Also it may simply be a personal issue you have online.

When i get you to ask, you ask stock questions. I don't know why you do this, but it also would lead to heid swatting.

Do you ever visit people on their own journals and pester them with searching if random questions on the homefront?
From: [identity profile] wolven.livejournal.com
Questions are questions. Vagaries are only vague because it's usually the only way to encompass the answers to my questions.

And yeah, I do.

what do you think are the real reasons behind Marvel and DC keeping Batman, Suprman, Spiderman, X-men, et all alive and featured in monthly comics? Do you think it is financially feasible to kill these characters off, create totally new ones, and try to keeep their respective universes in existence?

Date: 2006-02-24 08:36 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] wolven.livejournal.com
I don't think they could. They would instantly lose a fan-base stretching over 40 years, and two terrible comic depressions. They can't risk that. They can change, they can tweak, and they can tinker, but they cannot gte rid of them, because I know that I, for one, would feel absolutely no connection with whatever new characters they put in their place.

The universes could remain, yes, but not the loyalty to said universes. Not without some tying themes, and i don't mean like cameos in a spin-off.
