Marilyn Manson - [Suicide Is Painless (Michael Altman Cover)]--- As I noted, last post, and as you already knew, if you read the comic, The Reverend Al Sharpton has completely missed the point that Aaron McGruder was trying to make (link brought to my attention by [livejournal.com profile] comorbid. (Einstürzende Neubauten - [Sie]). To that end, I would like to make a proposal:

The wonderful and resourceful [livejournal.com profile] anarchette has obtained a mailing address, for The Reverend. If you would like to write a well-informed, clearly thought letter, detailing to the man the major points he missed (specifically the fact that the Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King, Jr. would be shocked and appalled, if he saw the state of the world, today, and the way people of ALL races and colours are behaving themselves), then let me know.

I think this is a good idea. A point was made, with satire and comedy, and care for a community that's slowly destroying itself, and allowing itself to be destroyed. (Queens of the Stone Age - [Six Shooter]). The fact that one of the leaders of this community did not understand this is simply, sadly, indicative of the situation, and I feel that he should see a strong reprisal o n his actions, and a few statements as to what he missed.

Curve - [Fly With the High]--- I do not think that invective is proper. I don't think calling him an idiot will help the situation, any. I think that forming your statements, and choosing your words, carefully, is the best option. You may think he won't respond, you may think he doesn't hear, but if he gets enough, then, perhaps, something will change. You see the parallels, i hope?

Good. Black, white, yellow, or purple, i don't give a fuck What ethnicity you are. If you think he missed the point, if you think Many are missing the point, then say so.

Think of it as a meme, if it makes you feel better.

the probelem is that Sharpton has built his career on creating disharmony and distrust rather than unity. I don't hinkk he missed the point I think he got it all too well and the last thing that he like many of the "community leaders" want is for people to think for themselves and realize that they are being lead down a self distructive path that they have lost most of the ground gained in the 60's and now unless members of the "community" come together and start behaving in a way that outsiders will view as positive and productive then things will continue to backslide as it becomes more about classand wealth than about skin color, people forcing others to deal with them as individuals rather than as memebers of a group, this would force society to change. In a way that I think it needs to where people are judged on their behavior and not there appearance but then again we do so love the "image."

If that Is the case, then, slowly, that needs to be made widely known. People need to get their shit together, and effect change.

How can it not be? Look at his actions and how he publizies his "causes" then tell me he is trying to unify and inspire anyone orif he is trying to create a media circus and look like an asshole and get camera time.... I just see a media whore that uses civil rights as way to do it and to make money off his "followers"

Yes, but he has done beneficial things. Maybe he's simply lost his way.

Blargh. It's the same shit as when Jesse Jackson got up in arms about 'Barbershop', and the 'Fuck Rosa Parks' line. He failed to mention the Real reason he got angry-the 'Fuck Jesse Jackson' line not too far after that.

Yeah, except, in this case, there wasn't even any disrespect. The portrayl of Dr King was simply a logical continuation of what a man would say to those who had mangled his hopes and dreams. Especially if the hopes and dreams were For those doing the mangling.

I think "Return of the King" was probably the best episode of The Boondocks that MacGruder's done so far. At times that show can even be ... I don't know if it sounds trite, but a bit moving.

Also, hi.

No, i think "Moving" covers it quite nicely.

Uhm... Hello.

I can't place the character in your icon. All I can say is he looks vaguely like Deadpool. Who is it?

It's Matt Wagner's Grendel. (http://www.mattwagnercomics.com/home.html) Specifically, Hunter Rose.

How, might I ask, did you happen across my little crossroads?

Random interests search. We have some interest in common - I forget which now. House of Leaves or Jhonen or something.

Can I add you to friends?
