Scrolling through things.
Jan. 3rd, 2006 02:11 pmTom Waits - [Starving in the Belly of a Whale]--- It's been a long time since I talked about things like patterns and group-thought, here. (Tom Waits - [The Part You Throw Away]). Heh. Anyway, I was looking through the nearly 1100 comments on Warren Ellis' latest livejournal, looking for the ones by the people I know, who read his stuff, and I notices a convergence of various types of icons. "Arrested Development" icons, icons from that comic with the Bunnies, and, of course, Transmetropolitan icons.
It's a weird thing to watch so many people of similar tastes converge in one non-directly-tangible space. Conventions are one thing, because the differences show, as well, but the little information we get, here-- the little that we choose to share-- cannot inform us as well as we would like. Sadly.
Hm
Tom Waits - [Woe]--- I leave you with this: The fundamental law of internet etiquette, as put into words by
mr_hinzelmann and myself:
Your computer is a portal to the Internet.
You must enter and exit the Internet through the same portal.
Tom Waits - [Calliope (Instrumental)]--- Though two may enter the Internet, meet, exit the internet, and meet on neutral grounds, passing in through one portal and out through another is forbidden.
It will, in fact, only end in tears.
Ta.
