KMFDM - [Real Thing]--- It's 52 degrees, inside the house. We're pretty sure the pilot lights are out, in both heaters, with the necessary condition that relighting them will result in our immediate and firey deaths. I am wearing a black fedora, and a black button-up shirt (open), over a shirt that reads "I Like My Coffee Black, Just Like My Metal."

I have a hardwood floor, and a fireplace. I do not have an axe, and there is a television in front of said giver of warmth.

I was born in a city built on a swamp, in the middle of July, and I know that there are many people, in the world, worse off than I. I simply wanted to inform you why I hate them, today, as much as I hate all of you. *kiss*

In other news, Kenny Smith gave a talk, this afternoon, about religious tolerance, without the necessity of pluralism, which was quite informative, and entertaining. (Hindu Love Gods - [Junko Partner]). There were three people, there, besides myself, from the Theory and Method In the Study of Comparative Religion class. Four, if you count Dr Herman. It was like a mini reunion. ^_^ The talk was well-attended, and well-received, and I feel good for Kenny, for it. He seemed to be enjoying himself, up there, and not too nervous, and he responded to questions well, on all fronts.

Venetian Snares - [Szamar Madar]--- I had very fucked up dreams, last night, and I don't remember what they were, anymore. Something about architecture, Baroque and Greek. Lots of white and a little less gold. Marble, everywhere.

Finally, as it relates to the talk Kenny gave, Wal-Mart is selling books on Wicca, now. Now, don't get me wrong, I hold no special love, in my heart for Wicca, nor the practicioners thereof, as a rule. I say that if you're going to like or dislike a person, or a set of spiritual or religious practices, you should do so on the qualities displayed by the thing itself, as well as the context in which you find it. But I digress. My point is that WAl-Mart aren't being bigotted assholes, anymore, regarding the sale of non-Christian religious materials. Granted this move was likely monetarily-driven, but it's something. There may be hope for the drooling proletariat, yet. See for yourself.

Veruca Salt - [Shutterbug]--- Man I'm angry, tonight.

I'm going to go try and get some reading done.

Wow!

(I still think "Research Methods with Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Populations" is the most unlikely of the Walmart books. Who snuck that order in?)

Not like they can get rid of them, afterward, and keep good PR, though. They made the move, and now they have to stick with it, or face massive allegations of bigottry and intollerance. ^_^

That's how they hold on to their "Dining Room Cred" as i'm calling the Family Values Set's version of "Street Cred," from now on.

I started it. TELL YOUR FRIENDS!

Given enough time and Vodka, and stunned with enough money, i'm sure Wal-Mart corporate will agree to anything.

Actually, now that I think of it, Wal-Mart's been showing some extremely slight "Hot Top-esque" influence lately. Or at least the one that I live next to. So finding books on Wicca really isn't all that surprising to me. No offense to any Wiccans that take the religion seriously, but it really does seem to me that Wal-Mart would be a store in which I actually could find Wicca-related literature. I'm not sure why, though.

Dude...there's instructions on the furnance how to relight the pilot light. Their set up so you don't blow yourselves up....

I tried relighting mine last night, but the thermocoupler (real part) was busted so it wouldn't stay lit.

Well, in an odd turn of events, the furnace is not, in fact, above my and [livejournal.com profile] mech_angel's room, and the upstairs one is lit. So that's a moot point.

I would have liked to see that talk.

And WalMart? The very Anti-Christ. And not in the good ways. Anything to consume more of existence.

I'm sorry you missed it. Hopefully you'll be able to come to some of the one's in the future.

And yes, I know. And they don't even want to do it, to teach anyone anything. They're just greedy. But i guess someone has to be.
