Project Pitchfork - [Angels]--- A Colour Portrait of the English Language.
This is simply amazing... The driven, intentional synesthesia, and correlative power. It's fucking astounding. I love this shit...
Beck - [Whiskeyclone, Hotel City 1997]--- "For each word, we performed a Yahoo image search and retrieved 50 image results. (If fewer than 50 images were found, we deemed the word too obscure and discarded it.) Then for each image we averaged the values of the pixels in the middle and then averaged those 50 results. We brightened the colors slightly for display."
It's this kind of thing, done on large scale, that i see being done more into the future. Collaborative efforts, and "what colour is xenophage?" and "Is blue Blue?" (Tom Waits - [The Last Rose of Summer]). The new levels of meaning, and questions to be asked...
I fucking Love this species, some days...

Date: 2005-08-15 05:50 am (UTC)Someone should apply this to LJ user names. That would be disturbing.
I love this, however. LOVE IT. Simply because of how errant some of the image search results are, and how they affect the color. Like why Throng is green.
