Terri Schiavo is dead. She is dead becuse her body failed. She is dead because being in a coma, that long, with that much of your brain rotted away, is going to Kill You, regardless of the amount of wires and feeding tubes. She died with her parents and husband arguing over her "right to life" or "right to death," all supposedly trying to do what she would have wanted done. They couldn't ask her, that way, so they couldn't know.

The only thing to do is what will end the suffering, in the circumstances. Her brain was a mass of cystic tissue. She was going to remain in that vegetative state, for the forseeable future. Miracles happen. They happen every damned day. But you don't rely on them, to save your shit. You do the best you can, with what you have, and that's All you can do.

This is going to hit a sore spot, for many of you, but: If your pet was irreversably ill, you would put it to sleep. You would not have it suffer, needlessly, with no "rational" hope of cure. You would console your self with "he/she is in a better place," whatever you would conceive that place to be. And you would do it because it's more Humane.

If we can not afforrd a human the same humanity as we would a dog or cat, then there is something wrong.

If you comment, don't expect me to respond. If you drop me from your friends list, for this? This piddly shit? Then i really probably didn't want you here anyway.

It is over. It is done. She has passed, let her Rest.

The sort of miracle that would have brought that woman back stopped happening, if you believe certain books, around 2000 years ago after the Romans nailed a Jewish Rabbi to a cross.

I have wondered for some time if, in cases like this, if the soul can flee before the body dies, or if it is imprisoned until it does. I hope that the latter is not the case... poor woman.

I agree with you totally. I wouldn't want to be in that state for any length of time if I had no hope. It kills me that this is something that was brought on by an eating disorder. Part of me wants to say that she sort of brought it on herself, but I know that eating disorders aren't really a choice. I don't know, I'm kind of glad she's passed on. I hope that things are better for her on the other side.

Read a quote in an op end piece about the case you might like

"God answers every prayer, sometimes the answer is no."

Mrf. I said my piece to you on this. If people felt so strongly about their loved ones 'not suffering', they'd find a lethal injection. Or a gun. Don't fucking starve them.
