'CHICAGO, Illinois (AP) -- A couple whose frozen embryo was accidentally destroyed at a fertility clinic has the right in Illinois to file a wrongful-death lawsuit, a judge has ruled in a case that some legal experts say could have implications in the debate over embryonic stem cell research.

'In an opinion issued Friday, Cook County Judge Jeffrey Lawrence said "a pre-embryo is a 'human being' ... whether or not it is implanted in its mother's womb."''

Well Shit. This is a ruling on which i will need more information, but it seems pretty clear that Judge Lawrence believes that an embryo (syn. "Foetus") is a Human Being. Please take a moment to think about that.

Now that you've all properly grasped the implications of this-- technological, as well as reproductive-- feel free to do something about it. I know that Abortion is seen as murder, by many, and even by some in the reading audience, but think of the fact that there are grey areas, everywhere. Black and White do exist, as extremes on a spectrum. Most problems are not that.

Personally, i'm outraged that this was tossed out there, couched in something else, and can and will be cited as precident, further down the line. This is going to turn into something very difficult, for the next Democratic, or even "Middle of the Road, Moderate" Government. Odd how "Moderate" has come to mean "weak," and "Liberal" has come to mean "Insane."

Why can't we remember what things mean, anymore? Anyway, shit is hitting fans, across the country. Ever feel like the government is fucking with you, because it can? Because i know that that temptation has to be Huge.

Later.

{11.26pm: This is a good day to listen to others, WOLVEN. They might be discussing something that could prove important. You could hear some juicy gossip about some important changes coming up in your professional environment. Try to think like a spy today. Go into observer mode and be a silent witness to things that are happening. You could gather some useful data along the way!

I think like a spy every day.}

It's Bullshit. And now i'm listening to a man, on C-Span, talk about removing forms of "paper-based" identification, as well as "Unique Identifiers." By which he quite obviously means mandatory computer registration, of some kind....

And he just used the word Biometrics. Luckily he's only on Book TV on C-Span2... Still... Not a good precident.

Yes. I know. And the problem? I don't trust them to mean it. I don't trust that, as I said, it's not simply being done to Fuck with us. To control us. There is no Teaching.

Fuck this. This is why we need to take over the world. Teaching and understanding is Top Priority.

This is where you and I differ. You see a need to take over the world and get immediate results. While I agree that the concept of GFH is valid and I will gladly help in its efforts. I also accept that it takes far longer to shift perceptual realities of others, especially the mass conciousness. I have no desire for direct open control. I simply want to teach/tell the world what to think. In the mean time, I will continue to lurk in the backgrounds teaching in the ways that I was trained. Showing blinds and waiting for then to see through the misdirection and ask actual questions.

Teaching openly. That's all i want. Understanding and learning, as the individual sees fit.

Yeah, then they kill you and distort your teachings to the point where you are simply confused at what has been done in your name. I'll stick to my methods they have been passed down for wit the teachings to allow us to blend in and not stick out more than we need to.

I disagree. Immortality is always an option, albeit a potentially lonely one. But you have to decide what's important.

What is it with these men and their fixation with other people's reproductive organs?

They recently intoduced a bill into the Georgia legislature proposing that a pharmacist who resfues to fill a prescription not be able to be punished by their superiors or employers.
This is in response to a case in Texas where a pharmacist refused to fill a prescription for the "day-after" birth control pill, and refused to return the prescription to the customer. The customer in question was a woman who had just been examined by a doctor to check for injuries after a rape-- the medication had been prescribed as a precaution. The pharmacist lost their job very quickly thereafter. But this new bill would protect pharmacists who choose to inflict their own beliefs about the morality/immorality of birth control on customers.

I think that everyone's entitled to their opinion, and no one should be fired because of that. But the only person whose womb you get a say over is yours. Don't have one? Then let other people make the decisions regarding theirs. I don't go around telling people how to treat their penis :x

This is pissing me off, on a number of levels, and i remember that Texas case. I would have no problem with the pharmacist, if he had given the perscrition back.

*sigh* Recently i've been thinking a lot about a bumper i once saw: "If men could get pregnant, abortion would be a sacriment."

Sad, but tru, and sad that it's true. :\

You know... the government should really stop trying to regulate morality. How can stem-cell research be justified if an embryo that isn't even in a womb is considered a full-fledged human?
I'm so confused.... ~__~

Mrr. I'm inclined to partially agree with the designation, but the far-reaching implications of all these decisions are worse than personal ideas of human-ness and such. The morality of it is fucked, but you can't ban something that can possibly save lives, since there are cases where it's the embryo/child, or it's both of them. *starts planning to pack and expatriate*

Right. As you said, though, sometimes we have to consider the long range, more than the short. Decisions. Difficult shit, here, and people are not making them as well as they could be...
