There'll be a struggle, between the use of the tech, fo control, and the use of it for expansion of the experiential realm. An ideological and principal battle, you might say ;) After that, there's going to be a little violence, as it leaks out, to the masses... Frightened, stranged people reacting poorly, and the like... But it'll calm down.
Within our lifetimes, it will.
And then, Mars. We will negotiate, Peacefully, damnit, and not simply try to take what is not ours. Let's show a little progress, huh, kids?
