wolven7It took me four hours longer to get here, Wednesday, than it should have, and i didn't technically arrive, until Thursday Morning. Four hour delay, so i got there at 8.50pm, being told i would leave at 10.50, and i did not, in actuality, leave until 12.47am. Arriving here, in my lovely DC home, at 2.30am, Thursday. There was turbulence, on the plane. We were about 200 feet off the ground, and coming in for the landing, and there was Turbulence. I was thinking about how funny that would have been... Only, you know, Not.
I've learned to fully appreciate the smells of my cities... I always knew they were there, but i was never able to fully articulate them. DC, to me, and a lot of the North, has a base smell of Clean, Dry, Dirt, and a Different Quality of Smog. Atlanta has so much humidity (more than DC, in the winter, even though we're by several rivers), that the air quality and smell are instrinicly linked to how much moisture we have in the air. It gives everything that slow sticky feel, like warmish sleet, instead of snow, or living inside of someone's mouth, at Christ's Mass time.
There's always a cool breeze, for me, in DC. There's always some pocket of dry, clean air, even in the summer, waiting to cool me down.
Philly smells like DC, to me, only with more concrete and smog. Not a bad smell, simply a little dirtier.
I'm thinking of a meet and greet, and i want your opinions, on this: You live journal people that live in the DC area, or within a 2 hour drive thereof, i want to meet up, hang out, drink coffee, see each other in real life. Not this time, but maybe the winter holidays. Depending onmy car situation, at the time, i may be able to come get you. I was thinking the 28th, because i have Important Plans for the 27th.
Just something to toss out there.
I'm off. Supposed to hang out with my dad, today, and check out cars. Back to Atlanta, tomorrow...

{Addendum: 11.37am: I had a good Stuff Yourself With Turkey And Pie day, yesterday. My family, as always, Colourful, amusing. My cousin whom i shall denote Mistress of Bootleg Movies. She doesn't make 'em she just buys 'em. a Lot. But it's entertaining... My Uncle (my mother's brother) is leaving for Afghanistan, in a little over a week. He'll be working for a security company, establishing compound security for various "important" civilians, working with the Gum'ment. Alli can think of, when he describes what he's doing, is the Compund Securities, in Gibson novels... Not quite police, not quite military, but a lot of both...
