Got this e-mail, from one of my teachers, today. It is in regards to the essay i wrote, commenting on the New Age belief in naught but unconditional love. I'll be uploading and posting, etc, later:
"Damien,
"I've graded your essay. It contains some very interesting and - I think - promising ideas. For this reason, I've spent more time than usual pointing out place where - I believe - your argument simply needs to be more fully developed. This is not to say that your logic is questionable, but only that in places you're overlooking other possible conclusions which, given your ability and motivation (and the likelihood that you will have a career in Philosophy -- Philosophy needs -- I believe -- thinkers who have not be[en] abolutely sold on Reductive Materialism), you could (and should) fully attend to. I am forwarning you not b/c you scored a low grade (96), but b/c I do not want you to misinterpret my comments as hositle. Indeed, I think that you are developing a metaphysics that cretaively differs from much New Age/New Paradigm Thought.
-ks
And some random guy complimented me, on my webpage, today. He's the senior director of regional something or other, at IC Group, Inc. He was looking for the phrase "Sic Gorgiamos Allos Sujectos Nunc," to give to his IT department, as a motivator. My site googled in the top ten, and was the only one that referenced the Addams Family. He emailed me, and said thanks, and complimented my site... It was... strange, but made me feel pretty good about me...
So, yeah, i'm bragging a bit. I've been considering the levels at which i feel comfortable with my own accomplishments, and being complimented upon them. These two seemed like proper times: Integral personage, in the Department of Religious Studies, at GSU admires and respects my metaphysics, enough to want to help make sure i develop them to the point where i could get world recognition, and one of the head design techs at a national risk management firm compliments my website.
I'm a little freaked out. But mostly in good ways.
