It was like a gift:
Jul. 6th, 2004 06:32 pmToday, there were discussions of Cloning and Gnosticism... Could i ask for more? Yes. I certainly could. I could ask that people actually contemplate the consequences of their actions. Hardcore Deontologists are funny. Beause they won't kill a child to save 50 million people, because killing is wrong, but most of them won't tell the Nazis where Anne Frank's hiding, either. Both are effects of Consequences, and everything we do has them.
I like to discuss the efficacy of theraputic cloning, genetic engineering, and cybernetics. They've intrigued me, since i was a very young child. I've given much weight and thought, and have talked with many people, debating the future paths of these venues. But people don't care. They don't find it interesting, or pertinent, or whatever... Which is funny. If I pull a Spider-Man/Jackel, and I clone you, with some new technique, leaving you unconscious, and have you and your clone wake up, at once, you tell me, that there's no Question In Your Mind, as to which of you is the original.
Even if you resolve that question, somehow, it will Be there.
And i ranted. In class, for a good chunk of time, and that made me feel Good. I got to be emphatic, and feeling, and logical. And i'm pretty damned sure that i frightened some people. ^_^
Thinking about the terms "Heresy" and "Heretic," coming from the Greek "To Choose." Yes.
Again, Nexus 7. ^_^
