Faith & The Muse - [Sredni Vashtar]--- Looking at my class, today, i was really hit, in an all of a sudden kind of manner, how much people are still refusing to accept the interconnectedness of Things, in general, with themselves, and their constituents. I know that-- shit i Tell You that things have to be seen and understood from One perspective, at some point, but i never... no, that's not right. I understood why people felt the need to stop there, but i never fucking liked it. It doesn't vibe with me, to use a slightly outmoded vernacular. It's like making hands out of coarse concrete, and running them over the back of my brain, slowly. (LUXT - [American Beast]). Not exactly the most pleasant feeling in the world.
I'm looking at-- every day, in my Ethics class, and my NRM class-- people who want to break everything down to one thing, and no more than that thing, in an effort to make things simple. Happiness, Love, Fear, Contentment, "God Says," "Religious Right," "Millenial Tension." It doesn't all "Boil Down" to any of it. It's a conglomeration, and everything bleeds into and feeds everything else, and the starting points of one thing are the ending points of myriad others. (QNTAL - [Sine Nomine]). There is no Breaking Point, other than where people, or groups of people decide that there is enough of a difference, to call something Something Else. The descriptors start changing... As if they ever stopped.
Rammstein - [Heirate Mich]--- The problem, here, is that people get very confused, very easily. They take a lot of simple concepts, and keep them distinct, and choose the ones they like, clutch them to their breasts, and shut their eyes eensy-weensy tight, and cover their ears, any time something new comes along to challenge that. For the most part. There are, of course, people who don't do that. There is, in some cases, a sliding scale, a gradient, if you will. But i mean for the most part. And it takes other people-- "Objective Parties"-- slapping them in the face, and telling them to open their fucking eyes, for half a second, to get any change done. Unfortunately, what that "Objective Party" wants them to see may or may not be "Best." for everyone.
I don't claim to have all the answers, for everyone, in the sense of what they should do with their lives, on a day to day. But i do claim to know that if people would open their eyes, to the possibilities around them, and the ways that, in the universe-- in "the State of Nature," as many are fond of saying-- everything blends with and touches everything else, and removing one thing fucks everything else, then maybe they would realise that Art[ifice] immitates Life, and the same thing is true, for the things we create, and introduce into the equation.
Ella Fitzgerald& Cole Porter - [Just One Of Those Things]--- There is balance, and some things take longer to recover from, but everything does recover. Or it doesn't, and it changes, and evolves. The point is, it's a dynamic matrix of shite. It's not yes or no, and one's reasoning will never be as simple as "Because God Says So," or "Kantian Theory. Duh." There is a reason that when you follow any one Theory far enough, it paints you into a corner.
Save Ferris - [Everything I Want To Be]-- I'm out. Later.
