Every time i think i've fully understood and reached a plateau of appreciation for HellBlazer, every time i think that i love the John Constantine character, and the cast of writers, and the artists, and the combinations of all of the above, a new story arc comes along, and latches a jet pack onto that, and i rocket that much higher, in my admiration...

I just read the "Highwater" graphic novel... Utterly amazing.

Guh... Comics are, indeed, my "Thing," yes. They are the brand of Geekdom i've always held closest, as a branching of my love of Science Fiction. That said... more people need to read things like HellBlazer, ad understand that comics are and can be literature, and deserve to be treated as such. It's not "Just For Kids," and it Never Fucking Has Been. Just like cartoons were originally made for adults.

Little tangent, there; back to the meat of the thing: HellBlazer fucking rocks. The End. Good Night.

A lot of the work published by Top Shelf and Drawn and Quarterly falls under the literature and "not for kids" catergories, including From Hell, Blankets (an autobiographical work), Berlin: City of Stones (a historical graphic novel set during the Weimar republic), and Louis Riel (a biography of a Canadian rebellion leader).

I think the other thing that more people need to understand is that "graphic novel" or "comic book" is not a genre anymore than "novel" is. The same genres in fiction (and nonfiction even) apply.

Anyway, a subject of which I am strong supporter so had to comment.

Heh, that sounds like a rant Steve would make. Of corse, comics are what he wants to do for a living and what he went to school for...

If I write a comic book, you'll draw it? I's been looking for one of you people for a WHILE.

Look, we've been down this road, before... Yes, you two do things. I've even tried to get you to work on things, together. So, yes. >_
