Well, i saw the new "Harry Potter" movie

Auf Der Maur - Real A Lie--- The problem i have with the Harry Potter books, is not something that extends into the films. (Auf Der Maur - Beast Of Honor). I have the problem, in Harry Potter-verse, of having been Poorly reminded, via the first book, of Haroun and the Sea of Stories by Salman Rushdie. There were lots of similarities, in the first book To Haroun, but none of the skillful handling, and clarity of purpose. Now, i know that Salman freaking Rushdie is a bit of a high standard to hold someone to on her first book, but.. Still... Left a bad taste in my mouth.

Auf Der Maur - I Need I Want I Will--- With that bad taste, i was unable to bring myself to read the other books. I've been told, many times, since then, that they grow into themselves, and mature, but i don't want to buy them. So i'm going to borrow them, if i ever read them... And that, after i'm done with the other things on my plate.

That said? The movie was freaking Awesome. Well-filmed, well-acted, beautiful art direction. Recommended. Yes.

At least read the last one. Harry as "bitchy teen with a shitty life" is hilarious, and i loved saying for the first of the book "God damn, shut the fuck up you little bastard."

Well, i'll probably read all of them, at some point, when i borrow them from someone. Then, when i teach, one of my required readings will be Haround and the Sea of Stories. *nods*

Definately better than the last two. That isn't to say that the last two were "Bad," only that this one was better.

But is the 3rd one a family movie? I surprised myself by liking the 1st two films, if only respetcing them, b/c they were great family films. They were aimed at children w/o being juvinile, were not subversive or filled with sexual innuendo, and they were just enjoyable for what they were.

Is the 3rd film like that? I have read that it is more "grown up", somewhat like the 3rd book and beyond. Not that that would be a bad thing in my book, I am just wondering b4 I see it, which will be sometime b4 I die and shortly after eventually.

There's no innuendo, in the books. It's not about "Teenagers" with adult personalities, performing acts of sarcasm 10 years ahead of their time. It's kids. Doing stuff. Really weirdly fucked up stuff, sometimes, but things Witch and Wizard children, in that world would have to deal with.

It's a true growth and maturation, not a "Making it Older," ie selling sex.
