Layers of meanings, remind3d.
May. 31st, 2004 10:32 pm'When I heard scientists declare they'd found the source of all religious experience, I didn't join in all the stupid, theological debates. So what if "God" chose to show his face in the form of a seizure in the brain's left temporal lobe, it was still God.'
-- Max Thunderstone, from Grant Morrison's "The Filth"
Something i've been meaning to touch upon, again, for a while now, is the idea that things only have one layer. (Jack Off Jill - [Star No Star]). Now, people talka a line about htings being multifaceted and layered and complex, and then, at the end of the day, they-- while still talking that line-- take in and defend only One of those layers. They accept one thing as "The Truth", when it's clear that there are layers of meaning, all viewable and facticiously valid, depending solely upon the angel ("Angle") from which you approach it. Things that are deliberately layered, so that you may find the layer with which you connect, and move on, from there. But not only that layer.
You take that layer, understand, and use that as a platform, remember? You use it as a point of orientation, so that you may turn around, and look at all the other layers, and realms, and dimensions of a problem, without becomeing hopelessly lost. (Jack Off Jill - [Testical Football]). But you remind yourself where you are, and, then you explore. Understand. (Gary Jules - [Mad World]). Yes, that's the first place you understood and accepted, but that doesn't mean it has to be the last, by any means.
Read The Filth, and House of Leaves, and a bunch of other deliberately layered shite, so that you understand what that means.
In other news, i finally saw "Bubba Ho-Tep," and i bought "May", today. They had exactly one copy, at Blockbuster, and my heart skipped a beat, when i saw it. Made me very happy. "Bubba Ho-Tep" is an awesome movie, and i recommend it, to everyone.
Voltaire - [I'm Sorry]--- All that said, there's still people visiting my house, so i'm going to go. Later, all.
