Yeah... People need to realise the inherent contradictory nature of human beings... It would put so much into perspective for them. When people see things about themselves, often, they extrapolate that, outward...

you made me cry.

It requires a policy of dishonesty about and blindness to our own histories, as a species, as a nation, and as individuals who were troubled as teenagers, and who will always be troubled, by the same dark impulses.

i've heard this all before, i've said some of it in the same spirit myself, when do we stop talking about things like this and take action against them?

heh..i did, once. it went so far as to end up with me dropping out of high school rather than continue to support that kind of gag policy by attending...until i found a school that was not so bound up in protecting its own ass that it would completely destroy the creative process and stomp on any conceivable rights of the student. It was a nightmare similar to the one experienced by the unfortunate college student in the beginning of this article. But my piece was a SATIRE. feh...Then i ended up with the rest of the infamously "creative" Horizons Class of '99(semper fi, muthafucka!)...

Exactly. There are measures to be taken, and many words to be said. Yes.

Well, it's 8.46pm, on a Tuesday, so why not right now? There is nothing stopping anyone from taking "action," in these arenas. Nothing at all.

My problem is, really, what kind of action, other than convincing those, in charge is there? Starting schools a nd communities, and what not, all comes down to showing and telling people of a different way. Convincing them.

luv ew damien. you're right, and i think we're going in the right direction as we create more communities to counteract this.

Which is not to say that production and what not couldn't be sped up. But whatever. :)

yeah, when I first read that I had to laugh. You should see what people do in my school. ACA would never restrict it's students. In fact, I bet the teachers would think it was cool.

Yeah. It's a balance, though, between trying to prevent tragedy, and unfairly persecuting someone.

And that is something which is best hinged on some kind of involvment (parental, authoritarian, And on the part of the adolescent, inquestion; different contexts, though), to make sure that the person is not so dissatisfied as to action their thoughts. Measure of Respect and Responsibility given and taken, on all sides.
