I say, if you want to hunt a fucking elk, or a deer, you chip youreslf a knife, out of the radius, ulna, tibia, or femur of some animal, and you stalk and fucking hunt your prey. You compete for it, with wolves, or mountain lions, or whatever the area predator happens to be. If you can't catch, kill, and survive, without getting killed or gored, then you don't deserve to call yourself a hunter. Period.

If you need a gun, or a bow, and can't bring yourself up to that level of prowess... Bah. Just bah.

I despise hunting. We were one of the last things to evolve on this planet - it was theirs first and it's not really "survival of the fittest" when you have a gun, put a hungry wolf in a room with a person and see who wins. I'd pay money to see that in fact.

On the contrary, i feel much better about eating venison taken with Hern's blessing by a friend of mine who i know behaved as honourably as possible and observed all appropriate respects to the spirit that chose to sacrifice itself than i would anything out of the refrig section at my local Kroger. Whether he used a flint knife or a bazooka, i know it wasn't 50,000 volts up the butt. And after hearing some of the more eerie recountings of hunts that he's been on, there is little doubt as to the prey's willingness to answer the prayers of a reverent hunter trying to feed his family.

1) I never said i called myself a hunter.

2) If that kind thanks is given, then fine, yes, but i still say things could be a bit more level. And ther is a difference between hunting to feed your family, and hunting wolves for sport.

oh, wolf "hunters"...those aren't hunters; they're poachers, or something. it's stupid hunting anything you don't actually need for food, warmth, or shelter unless it's an even contest, of course, or you're stewarding your land and removing truly offensive excess beasts who are harming the entire ecosystem...in which case we shoudl start in the cities with our fellow bipeds.

things could not be more even between men and deer, bears, boars, pheasants, or turkeys, etc, because they have prey instincts and a lifetime of experience in their woods that a human hunter could never match, and we have projectiles. Projectiles are just about the only thing that begin to even the match enough to make humans capable of supporting more than a single individual (if that) with wild game. We're simply physically inadequate.

True. This rant stemmed from the link, in the letter "F," where they're talking about legalizing huinting grey wolves, as big game.\

And yes, humans Are inferior, but that can be fixed, with the right training. Just cause we have big brains, doesn't mean we shouldn't be deadly, other ways, too.

hm. maybe i should start actually reading all those cuts and links you do. check out my recent posts for info on adopting captive-born wolf cubs.

however you feel about the controlled breeding of wolves, it's a great thing to raise public awareness and deal with the whole "wolf image" thing. And the pics of the puppies will make your eyes get all big.

Fucking makes me SICK!

Wolves "prey" on livestock because.... gee, can anyone guess? Because we've KILLED all their natural prey!!! Then we took over their natural hunting grounds and made artificial ecosystems! Oooo, wow! there's more nearly 500 wolves in a state now... whoop-de-doo. That entire population could easily be wiped out in a day and they're acting like nearly 500 wolves is a threat?! jesus wept, the hypocrasy of humans is amazing at times.

Wonder if I'd be allowed to get a government sanction to go kill a bunch of poor people in the projects since, y'know, there's too many of them predators running around. Fucking 'ell.
