Hope for Tomorrow
Mar. 25th, 2004 09:32 pmWall of Voodoo - [Ring Of Fire]--- The intersection was kind of desolate, but it was about dawn, on a Friday, and they had chosen this place, because it was out of the way. Really kind of flat, in all directions, where there wasn't road there was grass, and there was dirt, and some of the road was dirt. Four stop signs, just kind of waiting, and two trees, one in the south east corner, one in the north west. (Mindless Self Indulgence - [Kill The Rock]). The man in black had come walking up, from the south, bass guitar and bag in hand, coat simlpy hanging there. He wanted a breeze. That'd be nice. But everything was still, and heavy, like the stop signs. Waiting. The sun, itself, was starting to come up over ther horizon, when he heard it coming from the west.
The Wesley Willis Fiasco - [Drink That Whiskey]--- There was low growl, and the sound of something moving at high speed, down the hard pack and asphalt. He turned west and smirked, thinking about how fucking cliché this whole thing was starting to look. He saw the light glinting from chrome and shiny black fibregalss, and the trail of kicked up dust. As the car approached, he moved to the north-east corner, out of the road, directly across from both trees, because he knew what the bastard was about to do, his smirk turned into a grin, and he chuckled to himself. (Judas Priest - [Paint it Black]). The black FireBird sped into the intersection and schreeched to a halt, the driver spinning the wheel and throwing the car into a three hundred and sixty degree spin. After it had come full circle, the car stopped, facing him, and he could just make out a smiling figure, in sunglasses, behind the wheel. (Oingo Boingo - [Goodbye, Goodbye]). He grabbed his bag, and the guitar, and walked over to the car.
He leaned into the window, looking at the Driver, who said, "Nice guitar."
The man in black, now straight faced, nodded and said, "Yep. Plays real nice, too."
The Driver raised his eyebrows. (The Changelings - [Flowers Cover Your Eyes]). "I didn't know you played." The man in black smirked. "I don't." The Driver shook his head, laughing, "Just get in the car, you asshole."
They sat there, for a while, without talking, and the man in black broke the silence. "An intersection because..."
"It's a place we could both get to, easily. Right."
"Well, that and... You know. Crossroads."
Lizzie West - [Chariots Rise]--- The Driver shrugged, staring out of his window. After another ten minutes of silence, or so, spent watching the sun get fully into the sky, the Driver turned to his friend and asked him, "Are you sure you want to do this? It's going to be fucking dangerous, and painful, and there's really no way to stop it, once it gets started. It plays out. You know that right?"
The man in black looked at his friend, the Driver, and then looked north-east, toward the rising sun, for a moment. (Iggy Pop - [Passenger]). He turned back, looking his friend in the eyes, and said, "I know, and i'm most definately sure."
The Driver looked at him, nodded and said, "Ok, then let's do this. Your turn."
They both got out of the car, crossed in the front, and switched places. The man in black was behind the wheel, now. He looked at the Driver, his passenger, and said, "It's not really that different, is it?"
"No, not really. We're both always both places, anyway. Driven and driving..."
"Yeah."
The man in black put the car into gear and swung north, and north-east.
