Speaker of the Dead.
Mar. 21st, 2004 05:02 pmMe and
comorbid were talking about Jim Varney's death, as related to some works he did, in 98. Jim Varny died in 2000, which, to many of us, discussing it, seems just plain wrong. I remember hearing about this, and the liver problems and lung cancer that lead to it, withihn the last two years.
Weird things are happening with Time, the state of people's lives and deaths. Or, rather, the state of them, and the understanding of them, in people's consciousnesses. Captain Kangaroo, Arthur C Clarke, Jim Varney... All of them caused great disparity and dissonnace, in the minds of people, upon recently hearing of them. Now, when Captain Kangaroo died, i was surprised, cause i thought he was already dead, years ago, as did others. Arthur C Clarke, was different, as everyone who heard about him, recently, in interviews, was relatively sure that he was dead, when, in fact, he is very much alive. And now the Jim Varney thing.
And what in the fuck is with the Sci-fi, Gernsback-ish, Giant Robot, stylised fifties movies, "tuned-up, for the new millenium" coming out? I mean Jeebus, "Casshern," now "Sky Captain." And Yes, Casshern is Gernsback-inspired. Very "New Vision Of The Future, For a World Gone Wrong, Which, Itself, Goes Wrong."... Not that i'm complaining, mind you. Simply wondering.
Gah... {5.11pm: It's the fucking STARGATE themesong.... Dirty Thievery, everywhere.. Heheh.}
