Pomegranates, Corvids, Marriage and Wrath
Feb. 21st, 2004 02:32 amNine Inch Nails - [Reptile]--- Random interest in Hera, tonight, and thinking about the things that she embodies. It's a very twisted and complicated history, really, as she was never really cast in a beneficial light, or given much a personality of her own. She was always a symbol of wrath and hatred and jealousy, personified, with, every once in a while, something nice thrown in about how she loved the sanctity of marriage, and was the matron goddess thereof. Think about it, though: you have a husband who spends every moment he has, when he's not lording power, out chasing divine and mortal ass. How the hell would you feel? (Alanis Morissette - [Uninvited]). To paraphrase Chris Rock, I'm not sayin' she shoulda done it... But I unnahStan'.
She was harsh in her treatment of others, often, as she was harshly treated. Not an excuse, simply a statement. She could have handled the whole situation with a little more grace and tact, yes, but she didn't. What's left, then, is to understand why she didn't. I'm in no way proposing to explain that facet of the Queen of the Olympian Gods, because i think that, if you have that much of an interest, you should ask her, yourself. (Source of Tide - [Raven Goddess]). I simply noted it, myself, today, due to a typo i made, and have been thinking about it, since then.
Didn't get to go job searching today. Hopefully will, tomorrow, prior to the play. I would like a job.
Anyway, i'm going to go, now, and think about things, or not think about things, and stare off into space, or something of the sort. Or not. Whateva, you know? May sleep, soon. See you all later.
