Suzuki Teitaro Daisetz. Of all the writers on Zen, i've always loved him the most. Eloquent, well-read, intelligent, and Smart man. If you can find a copy of The Buddha Eye-- if, of course, you've interest in Zen, or... Things Like Zen-- I recommend it. Highly.

Really? I always found him rather obnoxiously nationalistic and somewhat prone to exaggeration if he thought it would help his publicity. Perhaps I was simply unfortunate in my choice of his writings.

Everything i've read by him seems to be-- while Definately of a mindset of "Zen Is Right, And Here's Why"-- very comprehensive in its inclusion of and trying to understand other traditions. Try "Self Unattainable." It's very interesting...
