House of Pain - [Shamrocks and Shenanigans]--- When I was little, i thought that i could see all of the moon, even when only part of it was showing. I knew it. I could see the outline of the rest of the moon, in slightly lighter contrast, to the rst of the sky. No one believed me, for the most part, but they indulged me, and ignored me, for the most part. Or maybe they didbelieve me. Whatever the case, i'd forgotten about it, until tonight.

God Lives Underwater - [The Rush Is Loud]--- Tonight, a few minuites ago, as i was walking home from the bus stop, i looked up, and saw the tiny little fingernail sliver of the reflected moon. And the rest of it. I could see it all, in such resounding clarity that i literally stopped in the middle of the street and stared at it. I asked, out loud, "Is there an eclipse, tonight?" But there isn't. (Interpol - [Obstacle 2]). It's simply visible. Evident. The rest of the moon, occulted, yet seen.... I was amazed..

I saw [livejournal.com profile] ladymerrydeath, on the train, coming back from paying the water bill, and i saw Kim's sister, in the Quizno's, directly after, when i went to get some food. Interesting things, those... And weirdly bitterly windy, today. Not so much the cold aspect as the driving wind, that makes you wish you'd worn two extra layers..

Poe - [Lemon Meringue]--- I am now going ot go shower. I'll talk to you kats and koshkas, at a later Time.

Believe me, you're not the only one who sees the rest of the moon. I've considered maybe I see it because I know it's there, so it just fills out the rest of the view...I dunno.

I could believe that, for sometimes, but not tonight's. I was seriously considering the possibility of unforeseen eclipse.

Is there some particular reason we shouldn't be able to see the rest of the moon? It's always been there, if you look. Albeit it's easier when the moon is not waning so much, but I have still seen it.

To most people, most of the time, the non-reflected moon is occulted to the same shade as the sky. Therefore unseen. No matter how dark it is, i've been able to see it...Etc.

The effect you are witnessing has a name - earthshine .

Its a facinating phenomina, and one of natures true wonders. One of the most incredible times to see it is at a minimal cresent, like tonight, or at a new moon. Yes, you can See the new moon, if you know where to look. Its an amazing thing to watch.
