Mrrr.....

{9.43pm: You may wonder why i'm ambivalent. You may not give a damn, though, but either way, here it is: Things are, literally, being left to fall into a state of disrepair. The Hubble will be not Utilised, not efficietly composited, to the used and creation of something new and better, but Left, to fall into the godsdamned Ocean. This bothers me. There are many great initiatives, here, and many things that sound like they'll be pretty good. But we're still making new things to Scrap the old things, and that seems like a giant waste, when so much use could be made. Hell, if nothing else, strip it, and re-use parts.

Another thing that really bothers me is that this is being done in a supposed "Spirit of adventure and exploration." Charting the Uncharted, and boldly going. You know why, in Gene Rodenberry's world, that was ok? Because we had, for the large majority, taken care of shit, here, on our own planet, befoe we started mucking about in the planets of others. You know, that "Get your own house in order," kind of thing. And we haven't.

Tangential, from that, is the fact that... i find continued virus-like exponential expansion into the universe-- Foundations End, and the Mule marches on-- extraordinarily distasteful, when we haven't learned to properly accommodate ourselves, in what we have. Maybe, just maybe, we should give that a go, hm?

Yeah. I'm back to "Virtuosity."

Later.}

I told you this, but I'll say it for the rest of your readers, dear Wolvie.

When I first heard Bush saying these things, I was in my car, and I thought to myself "Yes, we need this, but not from him. We need another Kenedy."

Which, somehow, lead to me thinking about going back in time, kidnaping the young Presedent K, and using the incedent in Dallas to fake his death for history's sake.

In truth, I think that says far too much about my own views of politics as a whole, but hey.

Yeah, it does. *nods*

But still. 'Svidanya, er something.... I want beneficial, efficient use. Yes.

You DO remember the iridium satellite phone-system they let fall into the atmosphere and Burn?...Became an 80 million dollar meteor shower.

I don't know weather to be pleased at the prospect or disgusted at the thought.

So a little of both....

The shear ammount of JUNK in orbit around earth at the moment is phenominal. From bolts, nuts, screws, rivits and washers (if you know the difference between all five, you just earned bonus points), to dead electronics and even human ashes, our planet is developing a very nice cloud of particles around it that make an excelent defense against anything NOT shielded against micrometors.
This is nothing new, of course, we have always had a swarm of associated natural micrometors made of ice, dust, rock, and other "cosmic crap" in gravitational association with earth. However, the ammount and size of the particles has increased substantially in the last 40 years or so.

Btw, iridium was so sweet because it was supposed to be a 77 object network. was almost done when they scrapped it.

I Do know the difference. And yeah, we do have a lot of shite in our atmosphere. And the fact that it was nearly done, doesn't make up for the fact (to me) that it Wasn't done.

I'm in a big "Anti-Wasteful" mode, recently. I dunno.

Our trash

There was a recent article posting the possibility that we'll actually enclose ourselves in our own junk, that if we continue launching satellites for our TeeVee viewing, and letting loose bolts get into orbit, we won't be able to launch any ships at all for all the debris. Embarrassing as it'll be, NASA needs to launch an operation devoted entirely to cleanup. Launch a big lodestone or something.
Well, definitely "something." The lodestone would be sheer madness, even just getting it up there without computers. And then the havoc it could play with every other computer up there...
Whee.

Wouldn't doubt it. Then we'd all bake, like turkeys, from the sun, and the metal, and the heat. Mmmmm... Turkey.... Anyway, yes, there does need to be some sort of cleaning mission, but that's a kind of logical thought process, not worrying about how it will look to other countries, or how much it'll cost, to do something which is, ultimately, good for us.

So i'm afraid we simply can't. >_
