Strixus: holy shit...
Strixus: BIG solar flare today
Strixus: {Said Huge Assed Flare}
Strixus: it went off SOHO's chart. thats BAD
Damien667: ...
Damien667: For Whom?
Strixus: .... umm... pretty much the whole day side of the earth. no wonder i feel all tingly today
Damien667: Trust me.
Damien667: It's Not a bad thing
Strixus: okies
Strixus: heh
Strixus: its an X17.2 rated flare. third largest ever recorded
Damien667: Remember the one on friday?
Strixus: that was nothing comepared to this
Damien667: i know
Damien667: That was the Start
Strixus: great
Damien667: It's a slow progression
Damien667: We're working toward something Good, here.
Strixus: okies
Strixus: ill take your word for it. anything that blinds SOHO that badly is big
Damien667: Very Big
Damien667: think about it for a second
Strixus: i dont need to think
Strixus: http://science.nasa.gov/spaceweather/images2003/28oct03/20031028_1218_c3.gif
Strixus: that white dot.. is mercury
Damien667: O.o
Damien667: You do TOO need to think
Damien667: hehe
Damien667: otherwise your brain atrophies
Damien667: anyway
Damien667: Peter Gabriel - [Darkness]
Strixus: possible result one: sometime in the next few weeks we are going to get crispied
Damien667: What the whole planet?
Strixus: possible result two: a major percentage of everything in orbit will get fried
Damien667: Most likely that one, as a side effect
Strixus: it would take a solar flare about 3x that size to cause damage to the earth
Strixus: if they keep getting bigger
Damien667: i'm just looking at the potential manipulative capabilites of EM pulses.
Strixus: *shudders* sorry, i dont like massive EM pulses. they make me feel sick
Damien667: any pics, without that centre dot, cause that would be an Awesome background
Strixus: sec, and ill check the soho site
Damien667: danke
Strixus: take your pick
Strixus: http://150.144.30.101/data/realtime/realtime-eit_171.html
Strixus: flare peak was 10/28/12:18
Damien667: yeah
Strixus: so this is the closest you will get in that band
Strixus: http://150.144.30.101/data/realtime/javagif/gifs_small/20031028_1300_eit_171.gif
Damien667: Mmmmm
Damien667: that is AWESOME
Strixus: some good ones opn this wavelength as well
Strixus: http://150.144.30.101/data/realtime/realtime-eit_195.html
Strixus: this one has the best one though
Strixus: http://150.144.30.101/data/realtime/realtime-eit_284.html
Strixus: *loves the SOHO site*
. . .
Strixus: holy shit... the most recent LASCOC3's are WHITE
Damien667: show me

Strixus: http://150.144.30.101/data/realtime/javagif/gifs_small/20031028_1807_c3.gif
Strixus: you can still see the flare on the C2 line though

{10.55 pm: Juno Reactor - [Mona Lisa Overdrive]---And another thing: From a strictly scientific standpoint, there were two SunSpots, each the Size of Jupiter, on Friday, and then Massive Solar Flare, today. Why are we surprised?}
