Voltaire - [They Know Me]--- So... shall we? You don't get the dreams, right now, because they were too intricate, and it's Night. I'll do it, tomorrow, when/whether i pen tomorrow's dreams, here. Anyway, as i was saying, before.. I watched all of Lain, yesterday. And... you know... it wasn't that bad. I understood it all, and i got what was trying to be said... It was a pretty damn good show... i liked the premise a LOT. If you've not yet seen it, then do yourself a favour and pick it up. Certainly a trip. You have to be willing to wrap your head around some things...

kidneythieves - [Serene Dream]--- It's strange... I look at all of these things that scare people, or freak them out, or that they don't understand... and so much is strange, to me, that's not, to them... I find Human Interaction strange, and they find the Idea of an Existing And Non-Existing God/Universe/Void strange... i guess that makes us even... or something... But i try to understand... Fuck it. What do you people want? I'd like to know, here and now, what you think it is that you want or need, from me. (Carmina Burana - [Dulcissime]). Because i've asked what you need... some of you... so what do you Want? We'll see if i can give it.

The Changelings - [Flowers Cover Your Eyes]--- The thing about Lain was that it was very Formalistic. A lot of the Upper/Lower, Representational thing... and no one i talk to, these days seems to understand what i mean when i say that something is an analogue, or a metaphor, but that that does nothing to decrease its power. That if you destroy the metaphor that we use to understand the thing, the thing itself is as good as gone. "Where I come from, we get six months of snow and ice... In midwinter the sun rises at Noon, sets an hour or so later. There's never any certainty that the sun will ever come back. Someone could just stick a sharpened sprig of mistletoe through it's heart and, well, GAME OVER. Winter Darkness Forever." So, the analogue is dead, and the whole thing shuts down... Think about that.

Deadsy - [Key To Gramercy Park]--- Some people want to say that the world is Digital. That we are nothing but a series of 1 and 0 sets. Yeah? And? The key, here, is that it's all, quite simply, in the way we fucking Perceive Shit to Be. I think that everything is made up of Atoms. Ok. Atoms are Monkeys. Ok. Monkeys are made of Quarks. Sure. Quarks are lemmings. Fine. Anyway, i'm babbling like MAD. For the love of FUCK someone say something cogent in the Yeah or Nay, about this... I'm off to watch Horrid Television. YAY!!! *blearg!*

"Because i've asked what you need... some of you... so what do you Want? We'll see if i can give it." what do i want from you? i want you to be happy and fulfilled and to keep growing the way you want to...i also want that for myself, and hopefully be able to help as many people as i can in the process...i want to walk through walls, without fear....and i want to find my beloved on the other side, and keep walking with him...
"what i mean when i say that something is an analogue, or a metaphor, but that that does nothing to decrease it's power....So, the analogue is dead, and the whole thing shuts down... Think about that." i totally agree....as above, so below....the metaphor and analog holds the same kernal of truth as the event itself does....in fact it can be more powerful, as it speaks the very language that our subconscious speaks....symbolism is a powerful tool of change and understanding...it is how we create and destroy...
"The key, here, is that it's all, quite simply, in the way we fucking Perceive Shit to Be. " Exactly...we interpret with and through our perception...we interact with the world through our perception...and we therefore create through it.

I don't need anything from you, nor do I ask of anything, other than perhaps to continue to share your thoughts where I can see them. They are often rather beweildering to me, but interesting nonetheless. Gives me another angle to look at the world from.

More than happy to do that. Hand me a soapbox, and a multitude, and i'll be golden. ;)

my computer is being a git and slow and my friends page is almost impossible to read since someone pit a piccy or something on it that then made the screen less wide than the entries so it's a bugger to read. this in turn frazzles my brain which is not working too wel right now as i am depressed. all these things will work through in time and then relatively normal (whatever the fuck normal is these days) service will no doubt be resumed. add to that that every time i try and post a comment on your posts the lj either fucks up and loses my comment or i lose net connection.

Is that Only on mine, or is that on all of them? Cause if it's only mine, then that's weird, and i'll have to wonder what's up...

I didn't like that one much... but I have it all, so maybe someday I'll watch it again and reevaluate.

to say that the universe is digital is an oversimplification I'd say. There are six different types of quarks which comprise any atomic particle. This oversimplifies things because on top of that you have Gluons, which kind of tie things together. Plus, these particles not only create the basic atomic particles, i.e. neutrons, protons and electrons but also more exotic particles like hadrons and baryons. This is complicated even more by the presence of anti-quarks. So in the end, there is absolutely no way that one can simplify atomic structure to a simple 1 or 0 system. You could argue that the negative vs. positive charges can express some sort of a binary code, but this isn't correct either, because quarks carry varying levels of positive or negative charge which are aggregate in their combinations to create matter. The world can't be binary according to current subatomic theory as far as I can tell. I mean, we use binary code in computers because its simple to create the architecture for computers based on a simple if its not on its off framework. This is also very wasteful. Just imagine if their were 6 different positions which a circuit could be in. It would make the circuit more efficient by a factor of six. But then how could one send an electric signal which varied in six different ways. The only way one could do that would be organically, because electricity's just not cool like that you know? I think its rather backwards and counterproductive to view the universe as a binary system. It seems more like the person is applying their own framework to the object rather than the object's framework to the subject....okay, so now I'm babbling too. How could you percieve the universe as binary? I mean, that's almost an insult to the complexity of the universe to think that its some kind of mirror image of our own creations. As if to imply that we have unlocked the machine code of the universe in our creation of binary code. I think we're being more than arrogant if we delude ourselves into believing that the universe is so simple as to be binary. We can "percieve shit to be" however we want to delude ourselves today, but to actually convince ourselves that that delusion has any truth behind it is dangerous, because then we all become way too complacent. That's why Douglas Adams is so cool....sorry, anyhow, this is getting too long.

The universe, of itself, may develop far more complex systems than the Simple Binary, but the fact remains that Any Starting point is an exercise in Binary Notation, when it comes down to it. It is as simple as a Yes or No answer. Exist, Not Exist. "To be, or Not to Be?" It breaks down, there, and from that simple choice, you have an infinite combination of choices and factors that can provide Anything to be looked for. Thusly providing evidence For and Against Post-Modernism. If anything can be made new, then there is Nothing New that cannot be made. Conversely, if you have the ground work for every thing that Could Be, laid out, from the first Choice, then ther Truly Is Nothing New Under The Sun. But i do go on.

Binary, in Total? I still say that it is Feasible, with the understanding that every Action in the universe comes down to Something making a 0/1 decision. Decisions that have already been made... It may not appear so, at first glance, but dig far enough into it, and it really is all about Choice and Perception.

Hail Quality.

But then doesn't superstring theory negate the possibility of non-existence? I'll concede that the mind/spirit/ka THINg could be binary at its core, that makes sense to me, although I don't like it, but hell I hate most of what people tell me that I know is right, character flaw or something. Which raises the question of why I ever got into Philosophy....(insert name of your favorite elder god here)-damnit, its like crack, should never have read anything by Robert Pirsig...filthy enabler.

LOL. As i said to Raoin, on her journal, though, i don't really believe in impossibility, one way or the other. Makes my life really interesting. ^_^ AS for Pirsig... Yeah.. hehehehe. I still need my copy of Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, back... Three books of mine, lent out... Three not returned. There shall be a Reckoning...
