wolven7: (Emotion-Intensified)

The Police - [Message In A Bottle]--- Think about it. Even when the universe is ashes and cinders, there will still be there, whatever property allowed it to bring itself into existence, in the first place. Whatever Universal Ego said "1, Exist, Yes, Am." That perception of the Self that-- on rare, rare days-- allows me to think that maybe Descartes knew what the fuck he was talking about. And, the thing is... What's the point? If we have to Keep going, and the universe will Keep going, no matter what we do, or say? Again, where's the Justice?

So i work towards Finding a point, or, Sartre-like, Making a point. Defining the purposes of human life, at the very least My Life. (Billy Idol - [White Wedding]). We're forced to make a purpose, cause that's the purpose... If things go on, forever, there's no meaning to the existence, and no lessons to be learned. It Is simply arbitrary, and fruitless. Not to appeal to emotion, here, but, honestly, can you stand for that? On some levels, the freedom, implied, there, is a beautful thing... The ability to do whatever you want, due to moral nihilism... But shit... Freedom's just another cage, kids... The more we know, and Can do, the less the reason to do anything...

I understood the mentality, last night, of The City, in Transmetropolitan. I was trying to sleep, unsuccessfully, and i was thinking about the people, there. (Tears For Fears - [Head Over Heels]). Changing themselves, and "finding new things to have sex with." It's all an effort to try to put meaning, there... They see that there is none, for them. They are post to the nth modern, and there is Nothing that hasn't been done, before... So they have to try to show that they are new. That they matter. That they mean something. It's bullshit. That's not the way to show that you mean something... When the middle of the story is too long, what do you do? You End it. Someway, or another. You redefine the structure, and start from somewhere nothing's EVER seen, before, or you simply End it, and put it away...

Sure. Maybe we have a few more times around on this here Ka-Wheel, but you know what? It Has To End. Not that it's the nature of the thing, but if want to be anything more than Spokes, ever, It Has to. So that, in those last few moments of eternity, we can look back at ourself/ves, and realise everything that we've done, and appreciate that. Because, honestly, we haven't been able to do that, while we're here...

why should anybody trust you? Des Cartes wasn't an idiot, even though nobody (including myself) really seems to like him. Granted, he regurgitated old work, putting his own spin on a few things, granted there are some conclusions he reaches which are questionable (but could also have something to do with him not wanting to be burnt at the stake as a heretic) but the cogito works, and he has a point in saying that the only thing the mind can ever be truly certain of from an a priori standpoint is its own existence. Can YOU disprove either of those two points? I'd like to see you try, you see people always love to write Des Cartes off cursorily, (often without having read much more than the meditations in a Phil 200 course that had a professor who also happened to have it in for the poor jack-ass). Yet, I have never actually met anybody who can convincingly argue for why the cogito doesn't work, why objective reality exists beyond a shadow of a doubt. or for how God doesn't exist. So prove those things, learn Latin and French and then read a little more Cartesian philosophy outside of your philosophy textbook, and then come back and speak with authority on the subject as something more than a pseudo-intellectual, who doesn't even append his/her name to posts. Des Cartes was valuable for modern philosophy as a whole because he was the first philosopher to realize the value of laying out an a priori groundwork for his metaphysical arguments, rather than simply starting with empirical suppositions. Its easy to poke holes in certain conclusions he came to, but then, from Thales all the way to the most modern of cutting edge philosophers there hasn't yet been a single one who could pride himself on having a completely bulletproof philosophy.
If you think you're a student of philosophy but haven't realized that yet, you should probably give it up and work towards earning a BBA, at least then you wouldn't be wasting your time.
Hope you get a clue,
-Patrick

Don't fucking Bitch it in my journal. You have your own, for that. I don't know who wrote the First comment, there, cause they didn't sign, but Seriously. Calm. Thanks.

"The more we know, and Can do, the less the reason to do anything..."
interesting statement.....funny though, the less we do, the more we sometimes end up doing..
action through non-action

"So that, in those last few moments of eternity, we can look back at ourself/ves, and realise everything that we've done, and appreciate that. Because, honestly, we haven't been able to do that, while we're here..." Didn't the Buddha do that, even while he was still walking the earth? The universe doesn't have to end to allow a person to gain that sort of awareness and find an ending of sorts.

Doesn't change the fact that w3e will eventually lose sight of the Point, whatever we make it to be, if it doesn't End. Anyway, Some people got it, and other have been Trying to get it, since Those people got it.... seems almost hopeless... But there's always Trying.
