wolven7Billie Holiday - [Strange Fruit (Tricky Remix)]--- So, took the Religions final, today. Write up was only worth 15 points, on the final. With all the work i put into that, and the fact that it was the only activity, in the entire class, in which i was interested, really, i'm a little disappointed. Went to the Vortex, for lunch... been eating there, more and more often...
Covenant - [One World One Sky]--- So, if i didn't make it clear enough, the jackass, from yesterday Was black. That was part of the flabbergasting. I didn't know that there were still people in the world that held to a culturally pervasive Standard of Ethnicity. I thought i'd lost that tracking ghost in High School. Guess not. This is, really, one of the few.. many things that get on my damn nerves about people. That there is this Fucking Cultural Standard, and that people think that if you do not fit at least some of the criteria (like it's some kind of Cluster Concept), then you are a traitor to your fucking culture. "Race." Whatever. Human Fucking Race. (Darkest of the Hillside Thickets - [Please God No]). Different Ethnicities, and different Cultures; one race, one species. Fucktards.
If a cultural standard is, itself, derrived from the Stereotype of the culture, and that stereotype is, to begin with, an unhealthy one, one would Think that the culture would do all it could to prove, to itself, if none other, that the stereo types were not true. (Prodigy - [Fire (Edit)]). You would think that they would not, in some effort to "reclaim" the words, terms, and/or behaviours of a culture, re-inforce those poor stereotypes, again and again. You would think that the people would not be averse to other cultures, and would try to be accepting of the ideals, and strong, in something, about themselves that stood for something, instead of blaming the Other for their problems, and hating them, and talking about "struggle and hardship." Showing themselves to be, in fact, no better than those who have detracted from them.
You would think that, in order to act within a certain cultural paradigm, you would have to embody the Best, most Admirable traits, about that culture. (Nine Inch Nails - [The Becoming]). The heroic, the brave, the intelligent. Not the one with the most money. Not the ones with the most women... men... Fuck-Toys. Why is that admirable? Why is money equal to security, and happiness, and contentment? Since when does your fucking "Bling-Bling" show that you are, in any way, successful? You are Financially Stable, sure... Maybe. You may not handle money well.. but anyway, that doesn't equate with happiness. You can't fucking Buy True Friendship, or Love, or Faith in yourself, or Fulfillment. Money doesn't get you That. Doing what you Love gets you that...
Off topic, that was. You'd think that just because a mother-fucker can sing, rap, play a sport, entertain, or dance like fucking Amos and Godsdamned Andy, he wouldn't be held in higher esteem than the fist doctor to successfully perform an open heart surgery. Or the king of an entire Third of a Continent. Or the men who saved the lives and freedoms of every African-American person, in this country. You'd think... but you'd be fucking wrong.
