MC Chris - [Geek]--- You ever have one of those days where you feel like nothing you've ever done is original? Everything seems to flow from something else, and not in that New, Synthetic, Something Good, way, but in the way where it looks like you're a Hack... Guess who feels that way today. Oh and what about those days where you want to express a feeling, but everything you have to say on it, sounds like whining, fishing for compliments, or a Pity Party?

Yeah.

do you pay attention to my feelings about my poetry or are those words falling on blind eyes? i get that feeling all the gods damned time, go ahead, you might as well say what you wanna say and complain how you wanna complain, we've all be there, are there, or will be there shortly.

Only ever heard you say that about your works, once. Perhaps it's a danger of being the Writer/Artist/Whatever; you're so close to your own work that you can see every source from which it draws... Maybe not When you create it, but certainly afterwards...

Almost always feel like this. Before and during the Creation, I'm fine, but afterwards, I look at whatever it is and think 'Shit. This blows. Gaiman/Brom/Giger/Whoever did this before, and they did it SO much better than I did...'

Hehe...

I respond to this issue by not reading. I read, and when I get to the point where I'm about to sit down and write I not-read and sometimes un-read what I've read so far. Clear the goo. Make the new. 'sWhat I Do. How 'bout you?

Okay, I now deserve to be dragged out back and shot. ^_^

Honestly, though. I don't read much fiction. I intentionally avoid reading lots of it, so that I have clarity, so that I don't have to sweep so much out of my head before I can work, so that I don't have to wonder whether something I write is mine or not. I don't CARE if someone else came up with it 200 years ago and wrote it better than I. I CAME UP WITH IT. There's something immensely valuable in being able to say that, especially when you "come up with" a true classic. To find that your mind works the same way as the minds of the greatest writers throughout history...It fills you with surety, with knowledge that you will succeed.
That, and Reading is hard!

*Creak* "Huh, what are you-" *WHACK* *dragdragdrag* *click* *BLAM!*
