Voltaire - [Out of Reach]--- So, there was, of course a protest, today, in the courtyard, and many people yelling "Walk out of your classes!" To which i said... Fuck you. My family pays for me to be here, because i asked them to. (Voltaire - [Anniversary]). I'm not leaving my fucking classes due to a war that's going to happen Anyway...
I was sitting in Religions in Atlanta, this morning, learning about Buddhism, and it suddenly Dawned on me: "I'm going to have to go out there, after class, get the microphone, and tell these people something Useful." So, i went, after class, talked to some friends, and told them what i was going to do. They know me. You know me. Ostensibly. I went down there, and i first went over to the Anti-Anti-War Ralliers, and i asked them if they had a bullhorn. They did not. I said "Damn. Looks like i'm going to have to get on stage, then." So i did. There were some cops there. They saw me, in my black leather trench-coated glory, and looked at each other, worriedly. (Voltaire - [Dead Girls]). I lit a cigarette, and smiled at them. I nodded, and winked, to say that everything would be ok. Then i got the mic.
Here's what I said: "I see a lot of people out here, today, that i know, and i think that's great. I really support you, for standing up for what you believe. But it's like she said: If you really want to make a difference, go back to class, and get an education."
At this point someone shouts "We're educating each other!"
And i respond that "That's all well and good, and a noble goal, but if you want to do something worth while, educate yourselves, instead of protesting a war that has already begun. Yeah, it may be an unjust war, it may be a war for the wrong reasons, but it's a war that is happening, and is Going to happen. There's nothing to be done about it, right now. { Something i forgot: "We will , no time soon, get to a point, where we don't have wars over Stupid Shit like money, and religion, and race, but the only way to get to that point is to learn more about ourselves, and each other. We're not going to have a utopian society, any time soon."} You may be 50% of the people" I was being generous "on your side, against the war, but that's only fifty percent, and none of you are in power. Fifty percent of the people, when none of them are in power, never accomplished more than fifty percent of anything."
At this point, they start chanting "He's wrong! The people united can stop this war!"
I wait for them to calm down. When they realise that i'm waiting for them, they, surprisingly, quiet. I say, "Yes, All of the people, united, CAN stop this war, But you are fifty percent of the people, at best. I really think you're doing a great thing by standing up for what you believe, but go back to class. Educate yourselves. Get into power, then you can make change." I then left the stage, and was immediately decried.
Voltaire - [Ex Lover's Lover]--- I forgot to mention to them that now was the time to work Within the system, and that Voting was probably a good way to fix things, for next time around. Ah well.
And aside from german class, which was fun, that was my day. That and hanging out with people. I was also told that i was "cute . . . like a little boy you just want to molest."
Don't know quite how to feel about that one, all over. Ta, for now.

Re: you got it spot on
They are Private, and not in charge. This makes them free to do what they want. Like go back to class, learn, and go into politics... Where they will be beholden. And then they can see what it's like, to make the decissions. Hopefully, they'll be able to keep the idealism of their youth, and make those unpopular changes and choices that they so wanted.
