Hate job-search. Nothing, in this world, can make me feel LESS good about myself, than going out and looking for a job. Rejection by strangers, loss of money, and realising that, yeah, any trained monkey could do the job, and why would i want to work there.. but they just hired a trained monkey, instead of Me.... Managers Suck. Every store that i like, in the mall, tomorrow.

I got all dressed up, respectable-like, and i Polished my Fucking Boots, and i get Nothing. Mainly, though, because i forgot to take some things along, with me, like my reference list. But, even still, no available managers, and a string of, "We're not hiring, but we're always accepting applications." Fuck you.

Bah. Managers all there, tomorrow.

And several people are going to Voltaire, tonight.

i'm going to go rend the neighbourhood Blue Jays.

Gah. If it's one thing that is guaranteed to be a depressing experience, it's job hunting. I'm fairly certain that when an employee claims that the manager is unavailable they're flat-out lying - in my experience a manager can ALWAYS be found if the need is great enough.

My advice? Next time you ask for a manager, act like a disgruntled customer. -That- tends to get service - especially if you go to apply at an office supply store (not bad places to work, but due to my bitter experiences, I suggest you avoid Office Depot and go for Staples, if possible).

Also, best things to bring along - copies of your list of references, a resume (even if you fill out an app, ask if you can attatch a resume - hell, bring along paperclips and do it anyhow), you SSN card, yoour ID/drivers licence (be prepared and all that), and the most positive, confident, cool-as-a-cucumber attitude you can muster (feel free to lose it complete and go into a fit of rage or whatever, if necessary, once a block away from the store). Never let the bastards see you sweat.

I feel for you, dude. Best of luck, and strength to you.
