No, you can't run a bunch of memory intensive programs at once and expect it not to crash.
No, those cute little downloads and lax security settings AREN'T a good idea. (most of the computers I see with software problems have them due to spyware - which are, half the time, due to file-sharing programs).
No, the computer will not maintain itself, anymore than it will read your mind.

The other half is often quite justified - silly hardware design and general shoddy manufacturing is all too rampant.
