Right now you could be thinking about a lost love, WOLVEN. Maybe you will be listening to a song on the radio that makes you think about a past partner. This could be the soulmate who "got away." You might still have some strong feelings for this person. It could be good to sort these emotions out. Are you really missing that person, or are you just sentimental about a certain period in your life that included them?
VNV Nation - [Forsaken]--- I think the answer to that last question is an all around Yes. Bloody hell. So, i've made myself a small VNV Nation CD, today, so that i may listen to these songs that seem to be very, very connected to all of my life. And i had a thought, earlier, today, wonder of wonders.
VNV Nation is a group which is very popular with the "Goth" community, i think we can all agree. So my question is this: Do they, the dark, spooky children of the gloomy night, really feel a connection to this music, other than the Surface of the words, or do they simply hold to that beginning? (VNV Nation - [Rubicon]). I ask, because there is that sense of superiority, in the "Goth" crowd, and i have to wonder if their arrogance is, in fact, "based on nothing more than exploiting a fashionable alienation," as Jhnen said. Because, believe me, i would love it, if there were something more, there. If there were a true feeling that they were meant for something more, something deeper, and maybe Darker than anything they've been able to see, here. I know that Some of them feel as such...
But, yes, i wonder what the Music means to the people who hear it, and, more importantly, what it means to the people who make it. There is a school of Aesthetics that says that it doesn't matter what the artist meant to say, but that the individual interpretations of the work is key. I have to say that i half disagree, there. The individual interpretations are Very important, but the ideals that the artists were trying to get across are just as important, if not more-so. (VNV Nation - [Beloved (Live)]). I love the opening words of this, as the lead singer is passing a bottle of watter around, to the crowd... that's beautiful. But, as i was saying, Tool has a definite meaning that they want to get across, as do most artists, musical, or otherwise, and i would love to know what they are. The Messages, and the artists. I hope that my meaning is, indeed, clear, but, also, that you can find pieces in it, even if you don't like the whole, that you can use, and add to your own repertoire.
I hope.
I need to go, but i shall return, because i have work, tonight, until 7 am, tomorrow. I'll talk to you all, again, soon.
Byebye.
