wolven7Portishead - [Western Eyes]--- Have you ever noticed how many books, movies, and pieces of music there are, out there, titled "Notes From The Underground?" It's like everyone with an idea for something "Counter," or "Edgy" thinks that it's their job to do personal Homage to Fyodor Dostoyevsky, and name their works after the poor man. Or, worse still, they've never read it, and just like the title.... This bothers me, on a deep, intrinsic level.
Some of my best friends have made interestingly ironic Variations on that theme, and they are good things, with their own voice. (Portishead - [All Mine]). Notes From The Hole, for instance. But i'm talking about the non variant, Blatantly-The-Same-Title stuff... If you like the man That much, then at least do him the honor of saying something new and original, or in the spirit of social change, if you're going to steal his title. I mean Damn.
Portishead - [Only You]--- In other news, i've caught up with You Damn Kid, and i saw Adaptation, last night... May i just say "Dear GOD, That was a Good Movie!" I recommend it to every one who reads this. The Ultimate in post modernism. And i know i sound all Artsy, and arrogant, but you simply can't Help it, if you're going to talk about the depth of things that happen, in this movie. From Beginning to End, it's a mirror turned in on itself. There is no Fourth Wall to be broken, because it's Moebius-striped Around itself... See it, and you'll know what i mean.
Portishead - [Undenied]--- So that's about it, there. Just some things to rant about, and suggest.
