voraciousbrain's book: For every $50 we raise on this, I'll unlock something interesting that I've previously done. This will be previously unseen full papers, power point presentations I've used for Dragon*Con Academics panels, my outlines for plans and papers, and so on.
And since I've raised just about $50, since the last time I gave you all something new, here's this:
"Becoming Our Selves: Jungian Self-Actualisation in Joss Whedon's Dollhouse" by Damien Patrick Williams.
Tihs is a paper from 2010's Comics & Popular Arts Academic Conference at Dragon-Con

"In Joss Whedon's… Dollhouse, viewers are presented with interweaving conceptions of selfhood, free will, determinism, learning, personhood, agency, and the ethical implications of a technocentric drive toward the future. Here, we take a Jungian perspective on the personal development and growth of two of the main characters within the show's narrative arc, exploring the consequences of their individual actions as well as their interactions with the show's other characters. We will discuss how motivation and intent can have unforeseen consequences, and how even the most mentally damaging of experiences can be used to come to a more honest and full understanding of our selves."
