One student has already admitted to hating the Buddhist viewpoint on selfhood. I told her it was okay, because we're going to talk more about it, later in the semester, & I was sure she'd find even more to hate about it :)
But also that, until then, I wanted everyone to take SERIOUSLY the project of investigating their feelings, perceptions, &c, and the implications--what it would Mean if There Is No Self.
Tomorrow we move on to Descartes' view of the self, which is that the first Real Thing we can know for cerrtain is the Self.
