Today I inform students that it is my job to make them uncomfortable. To present them with things they don't know & to show them that they know less about what they think they know than they think they do, if they ever think about it, at all.
Today, if I'm good, I teach them the difference between epistemic, ontological, and existential threats, and that we should always strive always to embody or embrace the former two, that we may avoid the latter.
