So, we saw Watchmen.

The Ending is definitely changed, and that change is seemingly unnecessary, considering the effect remains the EXACT SAME. It was not a BAD change, but a change I would think could have gone Unmade.

My only problem? Pacing. Some lines are delivered over cut-aways, and scene changes, not leading directly into those new scenes. This is jarring and was the only thing to pull me out of my full immersion into this film. It needed to be an hour longer, with smoother transitions.

Oh wait! It WILL Be!. Just as I predicted, last night. (Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] kittenspeaks and [livejournal.com profile] mech_angel for the tip-off.)

This will be a movie that will Sharply Devide comic book fandom, and especially Alan Moore fans. My recommendation? Go see it. Give it at least a chance.

Embrace the Blue Penis.

That is all.

Only in the people I know have I seen PhD candidates, high school dropouts, mathematicians, physicists, anthropologists, biologists, and many more (and all of them are more than any of those single things) come together and seriously discuss the implications, practical uses and theories behind everything they do, and how it might be fitted together under the (very broad) term "Magic."

Yes, sometimes there may be an undercurrent of "My Worldview Is Better," but that is surprisingly limited, for the Kind of discussion it is.

"Every abstract way of conceiving things selects some one aspect of them as their essence for the time being, and disregards the other aspects." - William James, "Religious Ways of Life."

My goal (our goal?) is to make the being and time simultaneous, all the way through. This includes experiences of individual and distinct Beings and Times.

Moving on.
