So, we saw Watchmen.

The Ending is definitely changed, and that change is seemingly unnecessary, considering the effect remains the EXACT SAME. It was not a BAD change, but a change I would think could have gone Unmade.

My only problem? Pacing. Some lines are delivered over cut-aways, and scene changes, not leading directly into those new scenes. This is jarring and was the only thing to pull me out of my full immersion into this film. It needed to be an hour longer, with smoother transitions.

Oh wait! It WILL Be!. Just as I predicted, last night. (Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] kittenspeaks and [livejournal.com profile] mech_angel for the tip-off.)

This will be a movie that will Sharply Devide comic book fandom, and especially Alan Moore fans. My recommendation? Go see it. Give it at least a chance.

Embrace the Blue Penis.

That is all.

As expected, I haven't seen it (I'd much rather wait for as long as I need to than watch it downloaded on my computer), but I'm really glad that most of what I'm hearing so far sounds more or less exactly like what you're saying.

I hope you enjoy it, when you see it.

I agree with you completely. The worst one may have been when they cut away *immediately* after Rorschach delivered "you're in here with me" right into a very quiet scene that immediately started with dialog you needed to be listening to. The audience was still cheering. I was still cheering. We all missed about the first 30 seconds of that scene when I think everybody would rather continue yelling because Rorschach is such a badass.

Yeah. I'm thinking that the Black Freighter edition will fix all of that

Actually something was pointed out to me about the ending. It makes The Comedians death COMPLETELY POINTLESS. How did he figure it out? It's not like he's a technophile or something. He's just some guy. So, death of Comedian lol wut? Otherwise, hell yes blue penis. I'll take two please.

Also, I missed the cock slap between John and Oz at the end, but, cest la vie.

Hmm. I wouldn't say COMPLETELY. As Veidt said, the government had been using the Comedian to keep tabs on the others, and he wasn't a Stupid man; just horrible. So he could have put the general shape of the thing together, if not the exact mechanism, just through the people involved.

Also things I think/hope will be made more clear in one or both of the extended editions.

New Ending
