Working out the frustration and bullshit.
Feb. 21st, 2007 07:08 pmI've been thinking, a lot, about Exeter's MA in Western Esotericism, and the prospect of distance learning programs. Dr McClymond told me to check with the Study Abroad program, and see what they recommend.
A frustration: If I ask you to tell me what works for you, and you don't. That's kind of rude, and somewhat (Ta-daa!) frustrating.
I'm in a new mode, now, because if you look at the MA page, you'll see that Exeter is one of three European universities who offer the MA, including Amsterdam (no real shocker, there) and the Sorbonne. You know the one I mean; the one in Paris. What better way to give a giant Fuck You, complete with raised middle finger, to American Academia, which tries so hard to both emulate and surpass Europe, than to get a Master's in Esotericism from the motherfucking Sorbonne?
I want to stir shit up. I want to use the prestige of these universities to ask the questions of "Do you want to be behind this curve? Do you want people to under-estimate the knowledgableness of GSU's Philosophical and Religious Studies faculty and staff?" It's blatanly manipulative, I know, but.... I don't care. I'll do it. I'll do it as much as I need to, and I have enough people interested in this program to carry a bit of weight.
Who's with me?
