wolven7: (Emotion-Intensified)
So, yesterday, I talked to Kenny and he gave me some really good advice. I was oping he would, having been the only person i can know in recent history to have gone through the same things I'm going through, right now: that being the weight o two dispirate factions and faculties wanting different things from his thesis. However, he was dealing with and older faculty and.. Well; anyway.

Primus - [My Name Is Mud]--- He told me that I should be thinking in terms of a question, some highly specific question, with a highly specific answer, and it just clicked, for me, and the question was like a tiny little brain baby, in my head, a foetus made of thoughts and concepts, and I think I finally have it.

Here, then, is the question: Can magic, as a discipline, be shown to have any instrumental value as either a philosophical system, or a collection of religious practices?

Tom Waits - [Knife Chase (Instrumental)]--- This is the starting point. The tiny, specific question whose answer is Yes. Then we move on to the follow-up questions of how, and what, and by whom. I think... Yes. I think.

I am uncertain, but I think so.

Björk - [Army of Me]--- Dreamed of parties, last night, at liquor stores. Parties of people who don't know each other, but who all loved being in each other's company. It was really quite awesome, in its way.

Saw "Smokin' Aces," last night, too. If you expected anything other than a Big Explosiony Action Movie™, then you haven't been paying attention. It was amazing. The Camera work was wonderfully done, each scene framed well, and not as many action movie cliché shots as you might expect. The director found a blend that worked. Anyway, I can say this: The main character does not learn the lesson you expect him to learn. *nods*

Tori Amos - [God]--- Anyway, I need to go get work done, so I'll see you all later.

'Bush told Democrats in private that he empathizes with their anguish on Iraq, saying the war is "sapping our soul," according to two officials who attended the session. They spoke on condition of anonymity because it was a closed meeting.'

"Closed meeting"? Not likely. This was an intended display of politically engineered "bi-partisanship," so that everyone can see people playing nice.

Harumph.

In better news, Discovery Channel's "2057" has Michio Kaku in it. That is awesome.
