wolven7: (Emotion-Intensified)
This occasion is too great not to take advantage of it, WOLVEN. You have brought together all the elements that will allow you to explain yourself, your methods and your points of view. The people you work with everyday will be receptive to all your great ideas. Don't worry about being nervous, those little shakes in your voice or in your hands will only give you more credibility...

I believe that it is entirely possible to be a wonderful thinker, to have expansive ideas, which hang together well, and explain things about the world, and be proven to be very mistaken, later down the line. Though I need to read more of his work, I believe this to be true of Naom Chomsky. Language is not immutable, not strictly relegated to one species, or another. If we live, if we have consciousness, and the ability to communicate, then we have the ability to understand.

Fiona Apple - [Never Is a Promise]--- I was taking a piss, and thinking about coding languages, because Al was playing one of the games, on Homestar Runner. Now, I know what you're thinking: "Damien, you were pissing. Why were you thinking of anything else, but that? You might as well have been whistling." But i think that to let the thoughts enter and leave as they please, giving them appropriate notice, is more worthy than restricting yourself. Anyway, I was thinking about coding, and the fact that there are people, in this world, who can look at a line of computer code-- which is a language created to interact with machine code, which is, itself, a language invented to get electircal currents, and made things to do what we want them to do-- and they can understand it. They can manipulate and change syntax, update grammar and parse, and create something, design something, show other things. Symbols given meaning, and meaning imbued and inherent in the act of using symbols.

Warren Zevon - [The French Inhaler (Live)]--- This is not simply translating. This is communication and understanding. Binary, Hexidecimal, Machine, Typographical Number Theory-- these are languages, with their own meanings, and nuances, pieces of nomenclature, inaccesable to anyone who hasn't lived in that neighbourhood. You can explain, but something will get lost in translation, yes... But you will get it. It might not be funny that time, but, with new knowledge, new experiences, being there, seeing what they mean, living it, you gain the ability to laugh with them, next time.

Audioslave - [The Worm]--- There is something more to language than being human, or dolphin, or computer, or self-aware sweeping construct, or swirling mass of tentacles, at the ground of being. There is, as I said, the very fact of consciousness, and the perspicacity of communication. In knowing how something communicates, and living as close to that, as we can, for our time of study, we may learn something of why they communicate in that way. What about their lifestyle and nature breeds that form of interaction and play.

Static-X - [Transmission]--- There is something to be said for becoming "Transhuman." To being more than the barriers that we have inherited. Nature wants us to grow and change. Nature and Technology are not enemies, and their works together, though not well known, are astounding. Marvels of adaptaion. (Static-X - [Control It]). What is wrong with striving to attain that state? I don't know that there is anything we cannot handle, except, unfortunately ourselves. With all inherent contradictions, and fallacies, in place, there.

I need to go to bed. Searching for houses, tomorrow. Also graduation things.

Good night, all.

Dream Well

Warren Zevon - [Bed of Coals]--- Dreamed of a bag of rotting apples. Of people living in my house, and being at parties. (Static-X - [Dead World]). Dreamed of cutting my own hair (something at which I'm still not very confident), and almost fucking it up (surprise). In the dream, I changed my shirt no less than three times. Something about Elizabeth's dad giving her Acid, to help her make friends. Some people felt like they had been drowned and reanimated, by some kind of tentacled thing, using them as puppets. I dreamed of actual puppets, in children's theater...

Gorillaz - [Man Research (Clapper)]--- You are a living example of why I try to communicate. You make the curiousity a need, for better or worse, and I need to make sure that someone, somewhere, understands, even if it's not me.

All of you. A few in particular, as i write; but all of you.

I need to go get ready for today.

Tom Waits - [November]--- Saw an awesome house, today. It's five bedrooms, 3 full baths, upstairs and downstairs living rooms, huge backyard. Pets are very welcome, and the neighbours are almost all 60+ years old people, who will bring us pies, if and when we move in. (VNV Nation - [Lightwave]). The other two places we saw, today (Kelly, [livejournal.com profile] beard, and I), were either too small, or too far away.

Only things about the house, which may be a "problem" (one of those connotations should be viewed without quotes), are that it's surrounded by old and/or business conservative people, which would necessitate smaller/quieter parties, and that it's $1900, per month (that's the one). I'm hoping it isn't too large of an issue, or at least not one that can't be surmounted. I think it will work out, ok.

Tom Waits - [Carnival]--- I should have some pictures, by tomorrow.

Air conditioning, at the new store location, still isn't up. They think it'll be up, tomorrow, but that's what they said on Monday, so we'll see. I hope it is, because, while i may not want to go to work, I need the money, as you can well observe. (Fiona Apple - [Carrion]). Also, it's my last week, and even though i've not exactly enjoyed some of the bullshit the company has pulled, I dotend to enjoy the people with whom I work. So I would like to be able to enjoy them a bit more, before I have to go. Want to go. Need to go. Because that place was driving me mad. Er. More mad.

Not much by way of things to talk about, other than that. I spent most of the day in the car, sitting back and allowing things to happen, with little nudges and leanings, from me. Serene day, mostly, with a few rough patches. Ate a lot, today. Huge Quizno's sandwich, chips, a drink, and, just now, a huge burger and some green beans. (Warren Zevon - [Something Bad Happened to a Clown]). Been drinking a lot of water, as well. Good ol' hydration.

Anyway, I'll stop prattling on, now. Pictures soon.

Warren Zevon - [I'll Slow You Down]--- TAKE THAT CANCER! I FUCKING WIN!

What'd i fucking tell you? WHAT DID I TELL YOU?!

Tom Waits - ['Tain't No Sin]--- I told you that, if people were fucking smart about it, they'd figure out a way to work Around it. Of course this means we'll get something worse, now, but you know what? We'll adapt around that Too. Fucking hell Yes!

This moment of Hubris has been brought to you by the number "Fucking Listen to me, next time," and the letter "Told you, you son of a bitch."

Warren Zevon - [Fiery Emblems]--- Gloating aside, and in all seriousness, this is the start of it. The next thing is the protein chains, and combinations, while we work on the AI to allow us to properly interface with machines. Working With, not Subjugating. Please remember that. By co-operating, and working together, in mutual, chosen, active symbiosis, we all come out of this thing as winners, you know?

Don't mind me... I'm a raving lunatic.

But i'm a raving lunatic who is, far more often than not, Right.

"Booyah," Grandma. Booyah.
