the fact that the official Obama tumblr just used a MEAN GIRLS gif meme to promote the first Presidential Debate tonight is just…it’s just f’ing awesome is what it is :)

The Obama For America Campaign has, at the very least, shown that it knows how to hire the right people for the right job.

Their Twitter staffer(s) understands the syntax and grammar of Twitter.

Their Tumblr Staffer understands the particular cultural argot of Tumblr.

I don't really Facebook, as such, so I've never really seen their Facebook page, but I'd be willing to bet that it is Perfectly Suited To Facebook.

Because they recruit people who actually Live Those Places, and understand that each one is a unique field.

Any other political campaign would (and has, if you look at it) simply tell someone, "These Are Things Which Exist; Put Our Person's Presence There," without bothering to understand that each one will require a certain Type of presence, in order to be accepted as part of the ecology. It's the difference between the successful virus, and the one which is immediately attacked and rejected.

Yeah, I just compared the entire practice of New Media Politicking to successful virus reproduction. Obviously.

Tonight's the debate. I won't be watching it, for a number of reasons, most of which come down to "I don't have the time to listen to people lie, obfuscate, prevaricate, or otherwise circumambulate the truth." Also, the phrasing and content of the questions will probably piss me off. And what the fuck is this ONE DEBATE Bullshit?!

Basically, I don't have the time or the spare health to spend on drinking myself into a rage coma, tonight. I'll listen to the various breakdowns (Daily Show, Colbert, NPR, FOX, MSNBC, blah blah blah), so I can vent the rage all at once, rather than once, and then again at those latter sources. And after that, I'll decide if I feel like bothering.

Neither candidate is going to tell you that All Isms are Evil, and are the inherent force driving this world apart. Neither one is going to propose a system of world-governance which allows for sovereignty and true democracy within a Whole Human Race.. Neither one is going to pull back the curtain on the shell game and tell you all the secrets which the secret chiefs know. Because both depend on them, to survive.

So, yes, there are important issues at stake, here, and yes, I'll be voting for Obama in November (Shut up; this is neither the time nor place), but these facts are all, for me, the result of a flawed and failing representative republic in need of serious reform, and are not, themselves, solutions TO it.

I can, in fact, work to provide the particular flavour of that broken system which I think will allow the most breathing room to start changing it. But I don't need to listen to the bullshit I already know they're about to say in order to do it.

So enjoy the debates, and somebody come get me if either candidate actually says anything A) Different and B) Of Substance and C) That They Truly Mean.

I heartily concur with all of the above. I also feel like adjusting my monocle and asking you to tea.
