wolven7: (The Very Devil)

Tonight has entirely made up for today.

We finally watched Cabin In The Woods, which I can't even talk to you about on a conceptual level, if you haven't seen it. Too many parts of it completely rely on you putting it together as you go. Suffice it to say:

-Amy Acker's in it.

-It has Joss Whedon writing Bradley Whitford. If I were to dream of a more perfect pairing, it would only be this, forever.

-Fran. Goddamned. Kranz.

-Cabin In The Woods is quite possibly the Wolvenest horror movie in the history of Wolven horror movies." - Widgett

!!!!!!!!!!!!SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!
!-ME:Lovecraftian horror. Metatextual reading of the Horror Genre. The implicit culpability of the Audience made explicit as the Ancient Ones which direct the Directors. The Rituals of Horror as Rituals of Satiation.
[livejournal.com profile] mendori: oh, even better... what if I say that the ritual probably wouldnt have worked anyway, because the crew got the roles mixed up for two key individuals?
[livejournal.com profile] mendori: they were using old ideas... as was everyone else... we got too genre savy for our own good, and its why all the rituals failed around the world
ME: Yup
[livejournal.com profile] mendori: failure to adapt to our own metanarative structure
thats why I love the response on finding the camera was not horror... but "Im in a reality tv show"
ME: EXACTLY
And actually... They got ALL of their archetypes wrong in some way or another
[livejournal.com profile] mendori: yep
the last two the worst though, because they got them backwards
ME: yup!
We already know of her at the start that she's had sex
[livejournal.com profile] mendori: and hes not a fool
ME: Exactly
[livejournal.com profile] mendori: everyone thinks they are what they should be.. but they arentt

To sum up: Joss And Drew Why Did You Make Me A Movie?!

Then there were drinks (Dr Pepper and Jack Daniels. Shall we call this "The Doc Wagon?"), cloves, and wonderful conversation with [livejournal.com profile] unknownbinaries, and then her and [livejournal.com profile] lord_of_smoking.

Both [livejournal.com profile] spinallandscape and [livejournal.com profile] triskelmoon recieved their packages, today, so that's that taken care of.

Tomorrow I teach, and I try to find a new car.

Now? Bed.

Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford playing off of each other. I cannot imagine anything better.

Okay, I'm drawing a line in the fucking sand: do not read the Latin.
