The Sword - [Freya]--- Things are Changing. I love change, you know? Love causing it. Love watching it. Love reveling in it.
As long as I have somewhere safe from which to do it.
The roommates' dog died, while
unknownbinaries and I were up north. I say "The Roommates' Dog," but I knew that dog pretty much her entire life. That's about 13 years, now. She had to be put down, because she had a freakishly aggressive cancer. The part that fucks me up the most about it is that I wasn't around when it happened.
Dropz - A Snowflake Falling To The Ground [Black Savannah Remix]--- I didn't get to say good bye, you know? That upsets me.
Two of the roommates are moving out. I mean, we knew that the current house situation would be changing, because the aforementioned roommates-- a married couple-- are pregnant. And this house can't handle six fully grown humans who can, for the most part, actually control all of their emotional responses and bodily functions. Adding a baby as our sixth? No. Not just no, but HELL No.
The Red Paintings - [Destroy the Robots]--- And that's sad. Problems though it had, i liked the make-up of this house. Honestly, if I had my druthers (and millions of dollars) , I'd buy this property, raze the house, and build a much better house, here.
But if I had my druthers, I'd be able to teleport, and I'd never have to worry about a single home, again, except as a place to keep my stuff.
I should have been born into House Portico.
But I violently digress.
Why am i talking about all this? Because I really don't want to. And what did we say about making the Imp of the Perverse your bitch? That's right. Do That Thing.
These changes seem very final. (Flogging Molly - [Wanderlust (Live)]). Like, we've moved before. We've changed houses and the combinations of people, therein, many many times. Why is this so different?
Because it's punctuated by a fucking birth and a death. Those are pretty Archetypal Epoch Markers, you know? I'm human, folks. These things resonate.
So. Options: Stay here. Find two new people to move into this place and continue to live in this wasp-infested, bad-wiring-having, improperly insulated shithole, in the middle of a neighbourhood with semi-feral neighbour dogs, on the edge of the ghetto, or...
Tori Amos - [Little Amsterdam]--- Or we move to a new place, and have to find something better than this ridiculously-cheap-rent-having, Capital-N-Nature-Surrounded place where
unknownbinaries' Garden is, and do it for relatively cheap.
And then there's the question of, where? With whom? Just me and
unknownbinaries can fit in what used to be my Dad's condo, out in Tucker. This would undoubtedly be the cheapest option. But then what of Bob? And how would
unknownbinaries get anywhere?
The Darkest of the Hillside Thickets - [Battered]--- So. This is what's been on my mind, this week. This and the fact that I really dislike my retail job, and would like to leave it, but I've not yet been guaranteed any summer teaching positions.
Einstürzende Neubauten - [Haus Der Luege]--- So now is the time for the hard decisions.
HOORAY!!

Date: 2012-03-20 04:15 pm (UTC)There are other units in the building renting, and would do for three people, but I'd guess them to be asking $1000+ given amenities and Decatur.
I also rather liked both Emory Woods and President Park, at $800 and $900 a piece (and close to colleagues), but I don't know if they're still in that range (last checked 5 years ago) or what the budget is.
Steve-O has a house in Scarietta, to which I'm sure Kim would love ye to move, but I don't know any further details on that one.

Date: 2012-03-20 03:40 am (UTC)1) its in South Atlanta in a neighborhood that is not exactly the nicest, although my brother lived there with his wife and kids for a few years. I don't think they ever had any crime happen to them BUT its VERY fenced in and they were religious about locking the gate any time they went in or out. Several of their neighbors were nice enough my bro never really complained. Believe me, he'll be renting it super-cheap.
2) Its at the end of two MARTA lines. You know how nice (not) that always is. Still it IS bus-able

Date: 2012-03-21 12:32 pm (UTC)while the tucker condo is way out there, if it's the most affordable option then it might be the best option (if only for a little while, you could move there and then wait to see where the summer job thing goes before comitting to someplace a bit more transit friendly).
i am, however, finding it hard to believe that you dont have any friends (your social network is so much larger than mine) who would be interested in moving into the current house. if you were to split up the value of our rent $520/month (for two plus the private bathroom) into two separate rents the amount really ought to be low enough to entice someone into moving in... and you dont have to find another couple to take the master bedroom necessarily, you and

Date: 2012-03-25 06:15 am (UTC)I get the feeling that it's probably pretty similar to my house in terms of space, only it has been more thoroughly renovated recently since they were originally trying to sell it. We're right by a bus stop and two miles from the station. They want 1450 a month, I think, so I don't know if that's affordable. Anyway, give it some thought. I would love to have neighbors I 1) know 2) like. And we could share our eggs with you!
