Which of the following would you be more likely to do:

1) Donate Money At The New-Car Version of a Rent Party

2) Barter Car Repair Services for an Equivalent Favour To Be Determined Later.

3) Buy Me A New Car for an Equivalent Favour To Be Determined Later

4) Hire Me to Plan Your Next Major Event.

5) Pay Me to Tutor You in... Some damn thing.

6) All of the Above.

Serious answers only in the comments, if you please.

I now sort of wish I hadn't sold my Jeep. I hate seeing people need modes of transport and not being able to help.

I also wish I needed to be tutored in anything. Therefore I would be most likely do either none or as much of the above as I can.

i think the new-car version of a rent party might be your best bet.

the trouble would be getting everyone to show up and actually give funds. parties have gotten a lot smaller as the years since undergrad have progressed.

I think the problem would be getting people to donate enough to actually help. Most of us aren't swimming in extra fundage despite being willing to kick in every here and there so the donations are apt to be small.

Have you considered Kickstarter? I've noticed people really doing well with that.

the only problem with kickstarter is if you don't reach your goal, you don't get anything...

This is true, but there are others like IndieGoGo, which will provide you with however much you HAVE raised. I don't know what their "Project Type" restrictions are (if any), but it's something to look into.

This is true. We're all in variations on a them of "Tight Spot," these days.

See below for Kickstarter issues.

I don't think getting people to show will be too much of a problem. See Below.

I'm always a fan of parties, but any or all end up working.

The party idea seems like it'll probably be leveraged in conjunction with whatever else ends up happening...

I would donate, mainly because I only have a little atm and want to help out (and all the littles add up to a lot), but also can't realistically do any of the other things at this juncture. However, with varying degrees of hypothetical wealth I would do some or all of the above.
