Cyborgs and Magicians. Because Poe Wrote On Both.

As I have come to talk about cybernetics and magic as being intricately linked lenses on the same processes, I've also come to find more and more people who either are already or who become interested in those overlaps.

Call it a meta-conceptual Baader-Meinhoff Phenomenon, if you want. I like to think of it as directed synchronicity.

My question for you, on this Sunday afternoon, is where do you see overlaps that few others see? What is like something else, for you, in a way that usually doesn't make sense for other people?

I want to know.

I've already said something to this effect, but economics and game design.

This also applies to karishi's and my reticence regarding normalization. It's a game-like decision: If we spend money on (regular), or spend time doing (regular), and (regular) isn't something we want (the benefits most people see in "being regular" aren't borne out by such a prosperous society that ostracism death is extremely unlikely), we have less money or time for (what we want).
